Hey guys i got a new knife today. Its the nicest knife i have ever owned. and it got me thinking of my other knives who i got them from, how long ive had em and what we have been through together. Im sure you guys have got some real nice knives and storys. Tell me about em. First pic is my new knife its a SOG i found today that i think will be my new everyday jobber. Second one has a cool story. Me and my wife were at walmart on new years eve and i found a wallet some one dropped. Checked the i.d. ran it over to his house for him. Guy turned out to be a marine that makes knives as a hobby. He was pumped i took the time to drive his wallet to him so he offered to give me one of his knives. This one the butt is a nut off a m1 sherman tank! Kinda crude design but its all the cooler for it, plus it comes from a hero so i really like it. Third is a knife my brother gave me b4 he moved away and now i have given it to my son as his first knife. So special to see him sharpening a blade and caring for a knife that was my brothers. Thanks for reading.
I think my favorite knife is one I got from my dad. I really don't like to use it and it is no way a superior product but I can remember him using it when I was a kid over 50 years ago. It has a wooden handle that at one time was wrapped in string with glue to make a grip. The real value of it has nothing to do with utility, it is a nostalgic thing for me. It might be worth a buck or so at a swap meet but has sentimental value for me.
This was my Grandfather's knife. He bought it back in the 30's to to sharpen the pencils he used to grade lumber at the planer mill he worked at until he retired in the mid 70's. Don't look like much and not worth 2 cents but I wouldn't trade it for anything.
Hey...I just took a closer look and realized that is a Kiss pocketknife. (or am I wrong about that?) Pretty cool; (Now if only it was made with a piece of a Sherman tank........)
Tell that boy he ought to use the knife as a guitar slide at least once. (I don't think I even knew how to play guitar at his age...assuming he's about 8. But someday maybe...)
My favorite is a Kershaw Chive, I was skipping out early on a wedding, found it in the road while walking to the car. I use a Warthog Sharpener to keep it Razor sharp. If you accidently nick yourself you'll be needing stitches
