Went over to my sisters for dinner tonight. Bacon jam burgers with a slice of onion and bacon jam in the burger. Pretzel bun, cheese, and tomato to top it off. Great food!
My wife just made me the last of the corned beef into rueben sammiches with homemade thousand island dressing, and a nice toasted rye bread. Store bought kraut and swiss cheese. Sorry, I ate the evidence, so no pictures.
Good weekend of cooking for me this weekend, since it was rainy and I was mostly kicking around the pad hurting myself getting firewood and such. Started with some beef shorts from a little bull I had slaughtered last fall... ..added some jalps from the greenhouse last fall, frozen until now... ...ohhhh, time for the rest of it... I put the smoked jalps on top of beans and spices and back in the smoke for a bit... When it was all done, I diced up the smokey peppers.. ...and cut into those shorties....
I forgot to get a plate pic, you'll have to settle for a few pics of what I did with the leftovers.... ...and finished with some apple cobbler.... The aftermath....
Mama Bear just cooked up a big ol pot of ham n bean soup for a cold n snowy day. 2 1/2 bowls later and I can hardly move. Better not get too close to open flame later or I might be flaring off like a oil rig.
Making some fish tacos for dinner tonight. Taking my crack at some that I always get at a food stand in SoCal.
I put them on the cooker at 300* and spray them with Creek Juice. Usually with a little bit of oak, cherry or pecan chunks in the wood tray Creek Juice Equal parts of White vinegar Worcestershire sauce and water Then give them a good coating of Turbo Diesels Famous Chicken Rub Turbo Diesel's Famous Chicken Rub 3 Tbsp black pepper 3 Tbsp onion powder 1.5 Tbsp garlic powder 1.5 Tbsp salt 1.5 Tbsp Lawry's Seasoned Salt Cook for about 1.5-2 hours spraying with creek juice every 15 mins
Gonna give them a shot, I'll let you know what I think. I like to try new things....creek juice is new lol.
Not quite ready for prime time yet Jon, but I'll post some teaser pics soon once I get her cleaned up a bit. You'll have to settle for this brisket pic from the other day. Man, this prototype testing is rough on a fella!....
