All hands on deck! There's a first time for everything. The pic doesn't show it but the way those splits landed, seen from above, looks like a bloomin' onion from one of my favorite restaraunts. Rats, now I'm hungry again.... LOL.
That sucks. Same thing happened to me this past fall, then it snowed, then it snowed a lot more, and there it still sits. Ill be stacking soon I guess.
Looked like a deep fried onion to me the whole time restacking. All better again. Now where's my car keys.. heading to that place to put another shrimp on the barbie..
If you think that makes you hungry go read all the recipes they are posting...Holy cow, I just went through all of them and I could eat a horse...
About a week ago the two feet of snow on my stacks decided to fall off. To one side. Took the stack in that direction before it fell. I went out, and the whole top foot of the stack was a good 12 inches further east than the rest of the stack, the next foot about 8 inches further east. It looked impossible that it could stay stacked....watched for a few hours, then gingerly approached the side where it was leaning...only side I could deal with the issue, other than just letting it fall. Did a little bit at a time, carefully....but have the stack back in acceptable shape. Much better than having it on the ground. The top was pretty tippy.....
The first 2 loads I brought back in late January & late February from my stash at parent's acreage looked just like that.Parts of 2 stacks had fallen over in spring 2013 ( stacked between 2 huge old leaning White Oaks on a gentle slope, some 50MPH gusts one day moved the tree tops) & there it sat.I restacked it twice & it fell over 1 more time, finally just ignored it a year later. Wasn't much fun prying it loose, the first load was driven in the frozen mud a couple inches.....Had to get a few sticks broke free, then hammer each one at a time.Didnt help that the temps were under 15 degrees, with well below zero temps at night for the previous 2 weeks..... Normally when nothing is stuck down I can have the wood stacked in the truck (6.5 foot bed with topper) in 30-45 minutes. But this took almost 2 hours time I was finished...Oh well, wasnt doing anything that day anyway.
