Looks nice. I could see one of my kids climbing it now.:rootintootin: We could use some more storage space in our kitchen though.

I like those Pete. We have a narrower version in the laundry area and it holds quite a bit.

I have a similar unit in my laundry room, it holds more weight than I thought! Nice use for the cast iron :)

I am thinking of making something to hang my cast on when I finish the kitchen. Might find an old piece of barn wood and some old hooks or nails.

Great setup Pete! Commercial kitchens use 'em, so those metro shelves should last a lifetime!

I like it. Nuthin worse than knowing you have the right piece of equipment and not being able to find it.

I ran a commercial kitchen in a previous career, I used to hide stuff so I'd know where it was when I needed it.

I hide it and its gone…  She hates the lack of counter space so we came up with this based on a friends setup. He has a calling pan hanger and it works great but we wanted more storage. The unit was $74.99 at Lowes so not bad. I do more cooking than here but lately thats been changing for various reasons so I thought it was time to give in...:emb:

    Nice setup Pete.
I'd like to hang up most of the pans, but when I look in the kitchen, I can't see any room to do it. Maybe when we get around to redoing the kitchen, I'll make some room.
All our pots/pans are in a base cab., and they all but fall out when I open the door.:headbang:

We hung a rack from the ceiling in our previous house, close quarters so after bumping our heads on the pots & pans a few times I gave it away. If I had an island there I would have kept it. Just a thought :)

We have a pot rack on the wall and it works well for us. I just did that section of wall over with some new cabinets and I'll replace the rack when I have the wall painted. It saves space and it's easy access.

I have a spot where that might work and I've thought of it a few times. My wife doesn't like my kitchen ideas too much, even though I'm the one in there 99.9999999999999% of the time using all the pots/pans. :headbang::stirpot:
She makes sammiches most of the time.

Would an overhead rack work with a pulley system to raise it when not in use and lower it to use it?

It would be really good if you had a hand crank with steel cable. Maybe an old boat trailer winch on the wall?

I have a timber frame home so all of my cast iron and a fair number of vintage utensils pull double duty as decorations. I put up a bunch of wrought-iron hooks and nails and stuff is hangin' all over the house. The most-used stuff is closest to, or in, the kitchen.
We have two of those wire shelves in our kitchen too, they hold almost all of the appliances, pots, pans, tongs, and a whole pile of other junk.

Same here, stainless pot rack that mounts to a wall above our butcher block table across from the fridge and range/ oven.

Great location for cooking, and saves space.
