I had sent the seller a message, asking who made the pellets, and his response was very defensive, as if I was going to steal his supplier or cut him out. LOL. I told him that a seller with NO positive feedback and NO information about the pellets won't get much in the way of a response. As for the price.....I didn't even bother to mention it.
Went into TSC this afternoon to get pet food. Noticed they have their own label pellets for $199/ton I didn't look for any codes. If these are the same as what they had a couple weeks back, then they are mixed Maine Woods Pellets, from Athens Maine. $199 is good, but doesn't beat $188 that I get MWP for at HD with my retired vet ID card. (normally $209) Plus I got free delivery. That is huge for me.
Save$, does HD offer free delivery to vets? I didn't know they did, but I had 3 tons delivered this year and didn't get charged freight. Thought it was a mistake. They did cap my discount at $50.
The free delivery was for three or more tons. The week end crew said five tons, I knew that was wrong so I went back during the week. I bought 4 tons, but before it was delivered, I went back and added another ton. All sold to me at $188 each. So 5 x 21 = $104 off. Neat! I wasn't capped. Don't deal with the night or weekend crews there. They haven't a clue, even the wk end manager.
Not a pellet guy bit that seemed pricy!! Dis math and realizes it was more than triple what some said they cost. Then saw what you guys are spending per ton!!!
For me the cost is less than half what oil would cost. About the cheapest pellets anywhere is in the $160 range. But the elite pellets are in the $300 range. Wood is $200 a cord, but I think gives off more heat. Propane and electric are out of sight. K1 is a lot more than # 2 heating oil. Natural gas is being installed around here and promises to half what oil cost. Gas line went by here, about 1000 ft away, but no one around here can get it because the type of pipe used is high pressure intended only to move it to substations. Many of the homes in town have remnants of coal bins in the cellars. I don't know anyone who still burns it. They will be offering gas to those in town where the homes are all packed closely together.
Where I live is only propain. But a gas line runs a few mines from my town buts its the big under ground kind. The kind that's I'm like a 40ft wide right of way that u hunt on. No taps or even small line.
If 'normal' pellets ever hit $750 a ton I guess I'll be freezing my azz off. That cuts into beer money.
If that came to be, we would all be living in two small rooms during the heating season, or back to cord wood.
Sub, you were so right, I was cleaning off my desk today, came across the sales slip for HD for the pellets. To my surprise, (and ignorance) I was maxed our at $50 also for the pellet purchase. I don't recall that limit when I made the deal, but, I may have been too stubborn and only heard what I wanted to. egg on my face for that one!
