Well, at least it is here in SE Iowa any way. Been in the 60's for a few days now, and a lot of 2 wheeled machines being seen on the road. Sooooo.... all you motor-pickelers out there, be safe, keep the greasy side down, and for god sake put a helmet on. Everyone else, keep your eyes open, watch for the single headlights, be aware. I'm not a rider, at least not on pavement... I have enough trouble with a dirt bike, let alone worrying about someone texting and not seeing me... But I have been to more then my fare share of motorcycle wrecks, majority of the time, it's not the guy/gal on the bike's fault. For those that do ride, I respect that, it is America, you have the right to. I didn't put the helmet line in there to start a debate. I'm a fireman, I believe in smoke detectors, seat belts, child safety seats, and motorcycle helmets. Everyone enjoy the warm weather, after another winter like this one, we all deserve to do so.... SAFELY!
No.... but should be.... seeing a lot white smoke around... and have heard of a few getting away from people. Take's an act of god to get a burn ban in our county.... or some really mad neighbors.
I used to be a fireman and chief for 13 yrs it alway made me mad when people would burn in a red flag warn.or a burn ban.
Well I plan on burning a brush pile tomorrow but we still have snow so no problem. In addition, we have no neighbors that will be bothered by our little fire.
I've been a fireman for 17 years, and chief for the last 5 years... very frustrating when people burn during ban and red flag as well... really chaps my hide when we as fire chiefs have to beg the emergency manager to put a ban on... down right infuriating when the county attorney refuses to press charges on someone that burns during a ban and destroys others property. Life of a volunteer fire chief... but at least it pays good... oh... no wait... no pay, I keep forgetting that part.
I hear YA I had to fight tooth an nail I got to the point that if we had to go out to put a fire out in a burn ban that they started I would charge them to put it out . After a couple times when there was a ban on it was quite.i didn't like to do that but had no choice.
