Is it possible to change the hydro pump? Or is that a complicated process cause it's built into the motor and shaft somehow.... ?

I have my tractor idling and raise and lower the 3 point while hooking up to the bushhog all the time and do the same with the bucket. Granted it is usually slower than I like and I bump up the rpms by 100 or so.

Sorry, I guess that tractor will go for close to 20K. Well outside your budget.

I knew you had a newer BX. IIRC the BX24 was the big seller at the time. We had the BX1850s and BX2350s too.

I'm not sure how this would be the case with only bx tractors.

Gear pumps are sized to give adequate flow/speed at operating RPM. Any tractor is going to have lower flow/speed at idle.

Perhaps they are consuming that flow elsewhere. The Deere's that I used to play with so much (2210, 2306, 1026, etc) would operate the loader, 3pt, and steer fine at idle. Of course the speed picked up with engine RPMs but I could swap the loader for another front mount attachment like a snow blower or a blade without picking the engine up off idle.

Perhaps the BX has a valve that assigns priority flow to the hydrostatic trans until the pump has enough flow to run other circuits. I'm not familiar enough with the trans internals on those to say as I only worked for a Kubota dealer for a short time.

I'm surprised there is no power steering at idle. There is one pump that operates the implements and power steering and it sends priority to the power steering. The B has 2 pumps-one just for power steering and one for loader, 3pt, etc.

It seems like the rise of the zero turn mower destroyed the small all purpose diesel mower/loader market. Seems like you need to get to around 30hp today before you get something built like the 90s era Kubota/JD/Ford 16-20hp machines. And then its really too heavy to use on a lawn, my lawn anyway. I have two machines for mower/blower/tiller/loader/grader but I often consider something like this little gem if I could give up the heavier chores I do with my 30hp machine. I also would be doing a lot more string trimming if I gave up the front mow and that aint happening.

You're right about zero turns making SCUTs for mowing a less than appealing option for many. Also those tractors that were popular "do all" machines 20 years ago are still popular but sales have slowed mainly due to reduced consumer spending and the increase in price that had been seen on all manufactured equipment in the last decade or so. Small frame CUTs are now 20-30hp (engine) machines as opposed to the 12-20 HP units from the 90's. Also the rise of mini-excavators has made owning a small backhoe a poor financial investment for many. You can rent a mini for a week and not get anywhere near what a backhoe attachment would cost plus the little digger will work circles around the hoe.

Oh gawd... :picard:... now you've done it. Wheels are smokin' off the rails as my pea brain has started "planning" again... :D
Thankfully, my plans usually just dissipate with a little breeze... :emb:

Well I brought it home. And proceeded to break it before I even got it off the trailer. Ran it for 15 minutes at the dealer with no issues or leaks. Put it on the trailer and drove home and when I went to take the straps off found hydro oil all over the mower deck and trailer deck. Pin hole leak in one of the steering lines. A call to the dealer, to let him know, and off to Napa to get a hose made. Back in business and I know a few things about the machine already.

Power steering works perfectly at idle but 3 point and loader need some RPM's.

Ran it about an hour moving some snow piles away from the house and very happy with the machine.

Thanks for all the help and tips everyone.

Definitely hoping for a long life out of it. Someone took good care of it. No leaks, other than the one I fixed, and plenty of grease everywhere it should be. Deck is in good condition too. It does have the protective plate for the fan as well.

It is much more enjoyable to run than the old JD110 for sure.
