If heat is the first consideration....

That seems the best option. That stove has a 4 in flue, My flue is 3 in. which means I have to change the whole thing. Last time I put one in I was hosed my the outfit that did it. This all depends on the wife agreeing to this. I can get my nephew to help with the install so I can say it was done professionally.
Not boiling me out of my area is very important to me. Once I survive Christmas, I will be taking another stab at this. It has been perennial "discussion" ever since I swore off fossil heat.

 

I believe that's a US Stove… not a very good unit. Hard to beat an Englander for the money… If my St. Croix ever dies I'll get another Englander I believe.

 

My preferred tactic would be to give her a choice of finding a job to pay for the dino juice or moving into the heat zone where savemoney is already sweltering. But I don't have to live with the end result .

My skillet swinger generally likes it a bit on the cool side as do I.

 

Maybe turn down your hearing aids and closing the door to your den might help decrease the whine level a bit. Other than that I don't know what you should do.

Tell them to run in place ahh, I have a solution get a treadmill, that'll get them heated up and in shape.

I don't get that either. They want to be able to wear a sweater in summer and a t shirt in the winter.

 

My solution for now is to have her take her little electric heater and run it where ever she is. Point of use is usually best in the long run. If I had my choice, there would be a small wood burner upstairs. Only because I am partial towards it for the ambiance, and for the practical part of knowing it is able to work when the power goes out. That stove would be about 6 ft from her recliner. I doubt she would say a peep about being cold if she could see the flame. Won't be doing anything for now. Need to wait until after Christmas.

We have a unit that has the logs, backlight, and heater. It sits in the prefab fireplace. I have had people say they could feel the heat from the "flames" even when the heater wasn't running. Lots better than those old tin foil logs.
