It's been snowing for about 7 hours now, dropping about 6"on us. The neighbors swung by from plowing and said forecasters upped the totals. The snow caused the sheet of ice to slide down the roof another 6", so I'll wack it off carefully.

Any chance you'll get pics of that? Gotta be the worst scenario... flooding then freezes so it can't be removed... hope you don't have to deal with too much of it.

Went out to get the kids off the bus, and there is a good 8" on the ground. It's still coming down. My wife has an event after work for her boss that is leaving. I'll be picking her up after. Good thing I drove her to work.

I work in IT, and enjoy the fact that I can work from home on days like this. After work is done at 5, I'll be heading out to run the snow blower over the driveway. Most likely will need to do it again in the am.

For me, I live in New England. Even in southern RI, I know that it can snow. No sense complaining about it. If I don't like it, then it's time to move south.

Got about 8" now with light snow. Plowed quite a bit. We might get another few inches before it's done.

I'm right around the corner from you brother! Closer to 8" and still falling. I got bad ice dams this year on my north side. Never had that before. Just one more lovely surprise from Ol' Man Winter this year. I spent 1.5 hr this afternoon with my new roof rack removing about 2.5 ft. of snow/ice mixture. ENOUGH!

I know what you're saying; there are days that I work in "it" too. Sometimes "it" gets pretty deep!

Judging by the radar, we have another hour to two of snow, and then one last good band to move through. Hopefully things will be cleared out by dinner so I can have one last go at it.

Yeah, we've cleared the driveway twice already and will have one more pass before bedtime.

    Me too
I'm in a hollow in a valley. Very small creek runs across the lower end of my property.
I had to break down this year and had the entire basement excavated down to the bottom on the footer , everything pressure washed, coated with a mastic, then membrain, then 2" insulation board, french drains, stone backfill, new floor drains and down spouts piped out to daylight.
Fixed the water/damp walls completely. Cost a small fortune but this is the first time in many years the back wall has dried up:yes:
On the bright side there is no wind living down in this hole:thumbs:

Had to dig out our drainage line too TD. First spring here, after listening to the sump pump come on every 15 minutes all winter, I discovered the old line had long ago collapsed right at the footing. I could see it down about 2' in the main sump hole when the pump would drain the hole. The wood box, that had been the form for the drain pipe when they poured the footing, had disintegrated and sand/gravel had packed down and crushed the thin wall pipe going out. To make matters worse, the up and down water level in the 2 sump holes (4" black drain pipe all around the basement footing was fine) from the pump cycles, had eroded the gravel under the basement floor at the holes. That was when I knew I had to deal with it before I had a bigger problem... it was already eroded back underneath at least 24". Had an 8' deep trench dug to the main sump area, put in a 4" sch 40 pipe... then spent quite a few days bringing almost 2000 lbs of crushed stone down into the basement in 5 gal buckets. Did all the lifting of those buckets with ropes/pulleys, a dolly and the JD tractor. I filled both sump holes and packed the stone hard up under the floor. It was a lot of work but am so glad I did it every time we have big rains and possible power outs too. The one time maybe, that I like gravity workin' for me...

We've gotten over 2 feet of snow in the past couple weeks after getting hardly any all winter. Winter was supposed to have ended this week according to the weather guessers, but I cleared 4 inches of snow off the driveway yesterday. It's 5 degrees out right now, 77 in the stove room and still heating from last night's coals.
I'm confident this time that today is the last day of true winter weather. We'll be down to one fire a day by Sunday and in the 60s by the end of the week, just in time for flooding.

I couldn't imagine dealing with the long term heavy snow that some areas have had, but I guess it's just relative to where you live.

Where do you live? I've read it's going to be in the 40's in RI next week.

Kentucky, but I can see Ohio if I look out the window. Our agricultural zone is actually the same as yours.
Our son lives in DC and their climate is milder than ours, go figure.

Today is supposed to hit the 40s, well above freezing for the rest of the ten day. Spring is knocking on the door here.

Got about a foot here. The ride home from work yesterday was more fun than you can shake a stick at. Going to clean the neighbors driveway here shortly.
