I am debating having a 372xp or a 390xp ported for my birthday. Which would you have done? Does a ported 372xp put it too close to a 390xp?

What size wood? What size bar will you be using?

20" to 24" wood max. Will mostly use a 20" bar. Curious to know if a 562xp and 372xp are too close to one another.

I would port the 372xp. You will see bigger gains in it than you will the 562xp. IMO. The 372 will handle a 28" bar once ported. :D

That's a hard choice. The 390 when ported is hard to beat for power. 372 is you can find an older non xtorq I would say yes to.

For under 24"? I'd stick with the 372. It's a little lighter and won't be much slower in that sized wood.

One of the first ported 372s I ran was done by Mike and it seemed about as strong as his stock 390 in 24" wood. I definitely like the weight of the 372 better.

Think about it from this angle. If you port the 372, you may never want to use the 390 again.

Yeah a ported 372 is awesome power. Most will be faster than a stock 390 or 660. Sometimes they beat ported 660s.

Nough said. When the time/money allows it'll be the 372xp. It's got a scored p/c but still pulls 150 psi and runs well.

So, anyone have a recomendation for an aftermarket p/c to have ported? Should I buy a pre xtorq p/c and also the needed intake or stick with an aftermarket xtorq p/c?

I would prefer the regular old style cylinder. You can buy a 385 boot and use the other stuff. Probably be able to find a nice used one.

Old style ported 372 is the way to go. OEM 50mm cylinder.
