Saw these two stoves over the weekend in VT skiing. The cookstove is not in use, just there as "art" in a restaurant. The pot belly is in use in the lobby of the Mountain Inn at Killington. I love that Round Oak stove... I wonter how old it is? It is MUCH larger than it looks in the picture... It's about 5' tall.

Gorgeous. How wonderful they are burning wood. I need to go there and stay awhile, just sit in front of the stove.

Two years ago, I attended an estate auction-waterfront property and all holdings. In the basement was a shorter version of the pot belly. Nice setup for a workshop, etc. Then went up to the main level and there was an even larger (similar to this one about 5' tall, maybe a bit more?) pot belly in all it's glory. 99lbs looks at the stove and then me and asks "You're bidding on this place aren't you?"

Growing up we had a cook stove just like that, eventually the iron got thin and my dad said that once he could see the fire through the stove he replaced it. we had a cat who used to sleep on the front shelf in front of the damper, sometimes when it was really cranking you would start to smell a little burning fur, but he never seemed to mind lol.

Cat was probably waiting for someone to come along and turn him!

Beautiful! That Round Oak looks to be late Victorian, probably 1880's-90's .

Wow, really? Had no idea it was that old.... that is great, and it's still burning and giving off lots of heat 120 or 130 years later!
