I was splitting some white pine this afternoon and noticed this interesting split just as I was stacking it.
That was cool. It's interesting what things you find in splits as your processing. Embedded nails, squirrel dens and bullets to name a few
I always like finding bullets. As a kid my brother and I would collect them from the backstops at the local ranges.
Yeah, one hunter I know is always missing with his 44mag and taking out trees instead! Are you feeling lucky ......................... trunk? 2012 2014
My wood stacks are actually my safety backdrop to my shooting range, so I’ve found a couple just laying in between my logs when I’m bringing wood in the house. I’m sure a number have found their way into the stove, and I probably dumped them out with the ash and didn’t even know it.
Reminds me of a couple years ago my wife and I were walking in the woods and she asked me what was wrong with a tree. It was a small soft maple. I went over then started laughing. I had shot a buck about 20' from that tree. The bullet went through the buck then the tree. Don't know how far it went after that but it was from a .308 so there was some power there.
