Snapped like a twig when I pulled the battery. Vacuum line? Snapped where shown and further down along the passenger side of the engine compartment. 99 F-150 5.4, goes by the name of Henry.
Could be for the 4wd actuator. If the truck is 4wd and it's not working that's it. Being that it's vacumn it could control just about anything though the way they route them. My wife's vehicle has a vacum line under the battery that controls the cruise control and blower settings Looking at it further it looks to branch off so I'm going to say it controls a couple different things
I will let you know shortly. They had to test the battery over night before fulfilling the warranty, on my way home with it now.
If that one is bad then you are bound to have another one break or broke elsewhere. It gets warmer I would replace them all
You may be able to sleeve it back together with a short piece of fuel line. I've spliced broken hard lines this way in the past. Its probably a dealer only item.
They ran the test, but since the battery is dead it wasn't charged. Therefore they had to charge it, which of course it wouldn't do.
Plastic chit gets so brittle in cold. When I lived in MT had a guy snap the shifter off a chevette I had plugged in the parking lot. Some plastic type U thing was inside trans where shifter mounted to top. Stuck finger in and did trans backwars to drive till got part. Yep we plugged in the cars to keep coolant in blocks luke warm, battery blankets to stop batts from freezing etc. Seen -80 etc there. Maybe that was with windchill. because next day was like -100. Thinking records are only -50 or so there.
−70 °F is record low no windchill in MT 1954. So I might not be as far off as I thought. Sorry for the side track.
Hope you get Henry's heater going soon Grizz. Might have to install a stove. Can't go without heat...
It still heats well I found out, it's just stuck in the defrost/floor position. No biggie, got hot enough that I had to crank the heat down.
I picked up some replacement tubing, but it will have to wait for a warmer day-- I don't want to accidentally break anything else.
