It's black and blue, and the pics that show it as white and gold are where the white balance is off.

That's funny on how the brain functions and manipulates things. Because they did it yesterday morning on the news and I see blue and gold...

Yeah, that goes for 99% of the stuff on the internet, including this whole forum some might say. But if it doesn't interest you ( you don't give a chit) just move on would be the polite thing to do. Don't you agree?

With my business as a stucco contractor I deal with all sorts of issues from structural problem, scaffolding issues, budgeting issues to weather related problems, and more. But the single biggest issue I run into, in my 23+ years of having my own company, is color issues. Why? Because people see color so differently, and yet they can be so adamant about what they think they see or like, even though others see it totally differently. So yes I have more then a passing interest in how people interpret color.

I don't give a chit about dogs. Had a bunch when I was a kid, but I grew out of it. Still if someone wants to start a thread about their dogs I'm not gona jump in there and say who gives a chit? I just move on don't bother to comment. Why? because that's the polite thing to do.

And it's possible you may be talking colors with a client and this silly dress color thing could be an excellent example of color perception. Many moons ago I sold copiers, depending on the customer I could akin certain parts automobiles, either the brakes = this part on copier, oil changes = this maintenence on the copier, and even Mercurys vs Fords (same builds back then) comparing differently branded copiers..... No worries friend, the rest of us are enjoying this :)

Yea, I've always found it to be intriguing on how the human brain works. I loved watching the TV show Brain Games. We'd sit and watch it as a family and kinda of try to figure it out...

I see one ugly dress no matter what color it is. But I really see light blue and a color that resembles calf chit.

Yep, I see white and gold too, yet plenty of people I've stood beside see blue and black. I can't see that at all.
You are correct, I've had clients that didn't want to pay me because they saw to much pink or something in the final coat, even though they picked the color sample, or sometimes I have had the house color looks a shade darker or lighter then the sample in the book,etc... I find it all very frustrating.

I heard a story about a painter one time that was going to paint a room for woman. The woman had a color chip that she wanted the room to be, and the painter had a bucket of paint in his truck and some color pigment, and he assured her he could mix the paint up close enough to her color chip. He tried several times adding a bit of pigment, mixing, painting his own sample chip, drying it with a hair dryer, and comparing it to the chip the woman had. Each time the woman said, yes it's close, but it wasn't a perfect match, could he try again. On and on this went most of the morning, in fact it was getting close to lunch time and they were both getting a little frustrated with each other, so the painter suggested they stop for lunch and try again after lunch. The woman said she had an errand to run and went into town for a while. Meanwhile the painter, wanting to get painting the room came up with a bright idea and painted the woman's color chip with the last color he had mixed up. When the woman returned he said he thought he had the right color now and compared his sample to the woman's paint chip, of course they were a perfect match. The woman was overjoyed because she finally had exactly what she wanted. The painter finished painting the room and they both lived happily ever after.
I haven't used this trick yet, but I've been tempted. ;)

Making the picture darker does make the white look bluer, but I still don't see the trim as black like so many do.

Not only that, it would clash with my beard and I'm afraid the hem line is to short. My wife gets mad when I go out in public and my nads are showing.
