Woke up at 3am this morning to firetrucks sitting in front of my house. Looked over and the neighbors across the street had a bad house fire. In no time the house was fully engulfed and the fireman worked at fighting the fire all night. The house was a total loss, fireman are still there now 8 hours later and an excavator just showed up to demo the house. Fortunately the family got out. It's crazy I was just over there Saturday plowing his driveway. Sad that he lost everything though.
So very sad.................there have been a rash of house fires in this area lately as well. Had a fatal fire 3 nights ago about 10 miles from here. Glad everyone is safe, the material things can be replaced.
Is this it swags? http://www.newsnet5.com/news/local-...e-fire-in-greentown-for-second-time-in-2-days
Always makes my guts churn when I see stuff like this. I hope they can get back on their feet as soon as possible. What an awful night for them.
House 2 doors down was gutted a few nights ago. No one there this time of year. No word yet on the cause, but I would have to think it was electric. They hired a somewhat local Survey Co. to find the property lines, since they plan to rebuild. Scary stuff, for sure.
THAT'S HORRIBLE. glad all got out safely. Did anyone see the house that exploded in NJ the other day due to a gas leak? Unreal......
I watched that over and over on TV and saw lots of incredible new things each time. I couldn't believe how the blast made that entire house look like balsa wood and tar paper. And, the guys working right there beside their trucks... very lucky.
wow that is crazy, we had one blow up here about three years ago. We were a long ways away an I felt the explosion and sat up in bed from it.
Propane makes me nervous as h*ll too. I've nagged my son about it at the cabin. Hope he saw that explosion too on TV. I worry about a few too many beers and forgetting the stove is on... or sumthin...
This was the explosion that happened in 2011 close to my house. I mapped it out and on the road it was 12 miles, so as a crow flies it was probably 10 miles. Happened around 4 in the morning and I sat straight up in bed and the mirror was shaking. A judge later awarded a $7.2 million settlement for the family from the propane company. http://www.ohio.com/news/portage-county-house-explosion-kills-woman-grandson-1.199987
Thanks for sharing that story swags . Everytime I see members post house fires my first thought is if it was woodstove related. Glad your neighbors are ok.
Glad everyone got out ok. As far as gas goes thats some scarey chit. I had a background in running equipment before I became a lineman. We are a utility so we cover electric and gas. They asked if i wanted to go to the gas side since i could run equipment. I quickly responded no that stuff will kill you before you know it. Not that electrics any safer, but I can see wires.
