Does anyone have/had or know anyone with a Caddy wood/oil combination furnace? We in the process of purchasing a new furnace. The ancient oil furnace doesn't cut it anymore for back up. Plus it's using the same chimnet as the wood furnace and we all know that a big no no with the insurance company. My Woodchuck furnace is very inefficient and goes through a lot of wood. So we are going to get a combo furnace. Oil for when we go away and wood full time when we are home. We are also putting in a small stove upstairs for the shoulder seasons, but that's a different thread all together. Anyway, the local dealer tells me the Caddy is the only EPA approved furnace of its kind on the market. How true, I have no idea. I'm looking for advice as to this will be a big purchase. I've looked at several online but most look cheap compared to the Caddy. I was quoted $3700 for the whole setup. I have done a ton of reading on wood furnaces in the last year but am in no way qualified to answer you questions. I am curious to see response from others who know more about them than I do.
I am interested in this thread to see how it plays out. I have been looking into a pellet add-on furnace, but I am not against a wood add-on. I just have a hard time wrapping my head around the burn time of wood furnaces.
