and I'm on my second reload. This thing is kicking out some serious btu's.
And the furnace is still turning on a couple times an hour.
It's getting cold tonight! I think they're calling for 7 below.

Are you bragging or complaining? Sounds like you need a second stove for nights like this.

It has been a rough February here in the Mid Atlantic. I feel for you. I am just glad I have plenty of wood.

I did the same last weekend, let the stove cool and went through the entire thing while I had time. The cat had a little fly ash packed in one corner, everything else was good.
We got down to neg 8 last night, the main furnace was running at 6, stove rm was down to 60

    Neither. Just observing.
The house is 70 degrees, good supply of wood still, and lots of heating oil I haven't used . Thats a good day
Can't wait till it warms up a bit, I have a couple years worth of firewood to c/s/s.
    Stay warm Maryland

Good news for you folks to our east. They have sort of moderated our forecast and appears the below zero nights are just about done. Tonight was forecast to be below zero but now they say 2. We have another night of zero and 2 nights below zero then not so cold for a while. I hope they are right or if they are wrong, let's hope they are wrong so that we get even warmer temperatures. I'd like to see some thawing! It's been too long for this cold to hang on.

Last time I cleaned the cat I didn't get the lid shut quick enough after the flush started. I had the soap in the bowl already so he did get some cleanin just not much of a rinse. It is amazing how fast a cat can come out of the toilet. His claws were sharp too. Now he just sits and growls at me.;)

That is good news! I'm usually not bothered by winter but I'm worn down by this one. I know -15F is nothing to some of you Canadian's but that is damm cold in NY.

Tell me about it. I remember somebody from MN a few years ago commenting that it had reached 13 degrees during the day and he left his coat at home. I thought he was crazy. But after dealing with multiple single digits days and a night or two below zero, 20 degrees feels somewhat spring like now. This month has kicked our butts.

Right on MarylandGuy. This morning I could hardly believe how warm it was outside. Then I looked at the thermometer and it was 5. Felt good though. We only got down to -1 last night. 1 tonight and -10 tomorrow night.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that will be our last night of below zero for this year.

I sure hope that we are done with below zero but the forcast has us for -3 for Friday. In my experience, if the forecast says -3 it will be -8 at my house. 35 and sunny today though!
