As I was heading out to leave for work, I got a phone call from another employee that one of our technicians had a massive heart attack and died Wednesday night. Living in central/northern New Hampshire, he fit the mold of always doing things outside, cutting wood for burning and generally active around the home. He was shoveling snow at the time but was in good shape, always into healthy options, did not smoke or drink and only 55 years old. Really sux to lose such as good person at so young an age. He was always smiling and laughing and a hearty New Englander-although originally from California. It is so odd to lose someone close to you suddenly, it doesn't seem real. On Tuesday he was in the office getting parts and being his normal PITA self-in a good joking way, seemingly fine. He did call out sick on Wednesday as he did not feel well overnight. Reading between the lines, he may have had a milder attack on Tuesday night and did not even know it, but that if just a guess right now. Rest In Piece Nick, you are sorely missed.
Sounds like an employee here.......he felt sick for a few days, then had a heart attack in his sleep. Same age too, 55. Sorry to hear of this news. Prayers being sent gbreda
Oh man! So sorry to hear this. It's a real shame, but I think you are right. He probably had a smaller attack the day before, and didn't react to the warning signs. A good friend of mine's wife fell on the ice a few weeks back while walking their husky. The next day she had a sharp pain by her chest. Went to the er, thought it was a heart attack/ stroke. Ended up being just torn muscles from the fall. Never can be too careful.
gbreda, those are always a shock. So sorry to hear of the loss and may God have mercy on his soul. One more thing that this brings to light is that no matter what condition we are in, sometimes it is some bad genes that cause a shorter life. We hear many times of regular runners in great shape but still having heart attacks or even dieing on the course. Thank God for every day you have.
Thanks everyone. I have had other losses in life but this is the first sudden loss of someone so young and unexpected. For 2 days at work, it did not seem real while at the same time I have a business to run and try to act quickly to get another on board. He will be a tough person to replace as he knew his large rural territory, the customers all loved him and he was the old school type that could keep his customers copiers running with bubble gum and duct tape if needed.
Sounds like some really big shoes to fill there ,old school people are out there ,hard part is finding them .
Had a guy at work here a few years ago. Said he wasn't feeling well the last couple of days and decided maybe he would drive to the hospital and see what was up. Our policy is to drive anyone sick to the hospital but this guy said, nope it's lunchtime I'll just drive up myself. He drove the mile to the hospital, parked in the parking lot across the street and made it up 5 of the 10 steps before he collapsed. He was dead before he hit the concrete. Autopsy said he had a heart attack 2 days before and was a ticking time bomb. About 58 I think, little over weight and smoked some but not much, occasional beer but never got drunk.
Man o man, so sorry to hear that. Like I keep telling myself, "Your here for a short time, so have a good time"
G. Sorry to hear about your friend. We will pray for peace for you and for his family. We do not know what time the Lord will call us home. But rest assured, His timing is perfect.
Sorry for you loss gbreda .... May God give you some comfort in this time of need and look over you as you try to find that right person to fill his spot.
I'll never understand the clock of life. Sure there are things we can do to prevent harm, but we are not in full control of time. Sounds like this man lived a full life while he was here. So sorry the loss of your friend.
