Last year or so seems like I'm slowly rebuilding. New issue - starts normal then evert 5-10 minutes stops feeding, flame gets very low to the point of going out. Then starts feeding again. Only red call light stays lit through this sequence.

How much have you burned since the last FULL cleaning?.....vent, behind any baffels, ash traps, heat exchanger, etc....also make sure vacuum switch port, hole, hose is not cracked or broken. Have you changed pellets brands?

Last full cleaning about 2 weeks ago. Pellets aren't an issue. I recently changed the vac switch - honestly I cant remember if the prob started before or after the switch, Ill have to bypass again to rule out. I had other problems due to the old switch, but this seems odd I think coming from a vac switch that it continually cycles like its going to shut down only to start dropping pellets again.

I'd say temporarily bypass the switch just to rule that out. Is there any type of setscrew/coupler that holds the auger motor to the auger that could be a little loose and slipping? Just throwing some stuff out there.

One other thing, are you maybe loaded up with fines at the bottom of the hopper?

I dont think so. the auger stops during what seems like a shutdown, then restarts when flame is just aboout out, then restarts - over and over

If there's a coating of baked on ash in the exhaust system near where the POF sensor is, it may not be sensing enough heat on startup.....

Quads use a thermocouple inside the firebox.

I'd make sure the thermocouple is touching the tip of the cover and that it's extended out into the burn pot the proper amount.

Also, run the hopper empty and check for fines. Quads use a spring type auger and do not drag many fines up the auger flight and into the drop chute.

Also, to add to what Steve noted above, check the location where the vacuum line connects to the stoves auger flight. Remove hose from vac switch and blow through the hose to make sure the end is not plugged with fines.

Are you timing the auger cycles when it is burning normally? How long is your average pellet length?

seems to be working fine. tore the whole thing apart did a deep cleaning and reset the control box, cleaned hopper and cleaned vac tube. so one of them worked. Was surprised at how dirty the exhaust was after a couple weeks of burning North Americans (ash monsters). They were all I could find locally and needed to burn something diff during recent cold snap as the timber heat were not keeping the place warm.

As always thanks everyone for your time and suggestions.

My bet is on the vac hose, common problem that a lot of people look over and they don't tell you about in the manual. They need to keep their dealers in business lol

Also with my Quad experience, Dexter is spot on with EVERYTHING.

    Thanks..! :)

Owning my Classic Bay 1200 for about 5 years helped with a lot of troubleshooting.

This is my 2nd season without the Quad. But my friend owns it and I have not forgot a thing about it.
