    Eegads! We have frozen pipes but no burst yet thank goodness... Pouring salt down the drains and running the furnace to warm up the basement.

    That's a good one! :rofl: :lol::thumbs:
    Slightly off topic but at the country church we went to growing up they didn't have a baptismal and would just a cattle watering trough. I can remember a few people coming back up out of that water pretty quickly :rofl: :lol:

    That really stinks Pete! Hope you get them unfrozen with no issues! I was worried about mine also since my basement dropped to 38 degrees last night.

    A plunger and some fine salt and I got the drains opened up. The pipes well they are flowing slow but flowing so I won't shut them off now.

    I hate running the furnace.. it died earlier this winter but I had a friend come and install all new computer board , blower motor and vacuum line. That seemed to fix it. I am glad we fixed it now.... It will take a couple more hours but the pipes will thaw with it running.

    I'm not using too much wood because of the insulation the snow is providing, but I'm not slowing down on use either.....as we normally would be.

    Yikes! It's cold here too Pete. Not to many days back Watertown had -27 I think it was. We have not hit that yet here at my place. I think the coldest Ive had on the back porch so far has been -20. But wind chill has been much worse. We are at -12 with wind now.

    I too, am over it even though our 2 deg last night is a heat wave compared to what you are experiencing. Itching to CSS some more for the out years, but that can wait until it warms some.

    Windchill has been killer in ND. -16 below yesterday morning with windchills to -45. Temp. at 8 am today was 30 above. Tomorrow back in the freezer, ready for spring! Seems like a cold front every other day, not good for my wife's arthritis!

    Pete, you need to move farther north. We only got down to -26 here. However, for the second time this week we had frozen water pump. I did not worry last night because the forecast was -16 and we'd been okay but instead, 10 degrees lower than the forecast. But no harm done. Got it thawed and nothing broken.

    I'm officially on the fourth loader bucket of wood today. Twice as much as I normally use in a week.

    Good thing I have about 8 cords hoarded. Of course not all of the 8 is properly seasoned. Only about 4 cords are ready right now. Which is more than enough to finish out the winter.
