No idea how she keeps doing this, but the scabs have shown up several times over the last few weeks. Poor canines only have a 12' x 20' yard right now, we had to close off the real yard due to snow drifts as they can simply walk up them and over the shed. We lost this precious gal last year for 5 days in below zero temps and 90 mps gusts. Never taking that chance again.

My best guess is she found an opening in the new enclosure and sticking her nose out 2.5" more helps the bunny hunting :)

PS, that's my finger propping her muzzle up for the picture.

Better than having to worry about her running off in extreme cold. Any idea what it's from?

No worries with Blondie, she is a rough and tumble hunting dog though she doesn't hunt LOL. She still cant get enough of the lil one despite the lil on falling one her, knees in ribs, and grabbing fistfulls of skin and fur while she was learning to stand :)

Not sure whats it from, guessing its the temporary enclosure til the snow drifts melt (wire fencing). Lil one grabbed some food from Blondies bowl and dropped into an empty 5 gal drinking water bottle, that could be it too LOL but not sure Blondies nose fits down the opening far enough... Blondie is fine :)

Might just be from 'snorfling' in the snow until Blondie runs into it, then trying to lift it up. My Lab has done that until she figured out that it doesn't lift.
    Dogs............ :loco:

    Snorfling, huh?

I call that horkin'. #4 down on the Wikipedia entry below.

hork (third-person singular simple present horks, present participle horking, simple past and past participle horked)

    1. (computing, slang) To foul up; to be occupied with difficulty, tangle, or unpleasantness; to be broken.
I downloaded the program, but something is horked and it won't load.
    2. (slang, regional) To steal, especially petty theft or misnomer in jest.
Can I hork that code from you for my project?
    3. (slang) To throw.
Let's go hork pickles at people from the back row of the movie theatre.
    4. (slang) To eat hastily or greedily; to gobble.
I don't know what got into her, but she horked all those hoagies last night!
    5. (slang, transitive) To move; specifically in an egregious fashion
Go hork the kegs from out back, and then go to the party across the street andhork some girls back.

BK index- snorfling- to snorfle- as a dog..
    To "snorfle"-
    • prance out of house into fresh snow
    • run in circles, large diameter at first, tapering off to 10', approx.
    • look at guy holding beer, for approval. every circle made in snow.
    • look at guy holding beer some more, wait for approval- " Good girl!"
    • proceed to bury head in snow and go all over the damm place, pausing only to lift head above snow and "snorfle".
    • repeat
    • repeat
    • "Good Girl" shouted when beer is finished.
    • Dawg and guy go back in house, dawg first- (always, you know the drill)
    • 6+ dog sneezes before it plops down in front of BKK
    • warm dog now at feet of guy typing on computer..... and farting. ( the dog dammit)
    • That is a typical "snorfle" scenario.
    ...such is life

According to Bob and Doug MacKenzie from the Great White North hork means to steal.

We know those hosers are the source of ultimate wisdom :)
