Went with a friend of mine today to visit a nearly 40-year old saw shop. He's been there many times, but this was my first visit. The guy who met us there (they were closed) let us rummage through their several small buildings that were stuffed to the gills with chainsaws and chainsaw parts. I felt like I was on an episode of American Pickers! He also gave us a virtually box-by-box 'tour' of the back room in the shop itself. I came home with a small pile of saws, parts, and bars. I'll spare giving a full inventory, but I ended up with a few of what I believe to be noteworthy unique items. As the title mentions, I don't claim to have gotten 'you suck' deals on them, but the prices were good enough that I jumped on them and the opportunity to buy these is rare. First up, and not really a rare item is a brand new OEM Stihl 044 cylinder. I'm not going to call it NOS because it doesn't include the piston and was actually pulled from a brand new 044 chainsaw some years ago because they needed parts and disassembled it. Next up is a small smorgasbord of NOS 084 plastics (also NLA, for the record). I got a top shroud, an old school filter kit (cover, base, filter), an HD filter base & cover, and a complete (shy of the actual filter) HD filter conversion kit. Pretty cool stuff! Last and certainly not least is . . . wait for it . . . a NOS 041 Super piston & cylinder! This joker is pure gold, and I'm giddy as a school girl to have it! Good day, lots of fun.
That sounds like a great way to spend an afternoon. I would have to leave my credit card at home, or at least pretend that I'd done so.
I'm going to sell everything pictured, hoping to actually get it posted this evening yet. For now I'm going to keep the 044 cylinder and the big pile of other goodies I came home with.
I love pics, but this is one man I tend to take his word for it. Or I will text him and ask him.. LOL Nice score bud!
