Not telling you what to do its just options. I think when I called Baileys the 555 was close to $200 less than what you say the 391 is. I have that saw and it is STRONG!

I'm a Stihl guy and the 391 is a great saw, but it should be around 400. 600+ is rediculouse and it loses value the minute you buy it. However, Stihls hold their value as well or better than most. I just wouldn't buy a used saw personally. If I did and were looking at a 391, I'd spend a bit more for the Pro equivalent.

Around here I can buy a real nice 039 for 200 to 250. A 390 for just a bit more. Have you looked at the 60cc Echo Timberwolf? For 400 it's a great deal, lot of positive feedback and great warranty. If I buy a New saw, I'm going to buy the Echo Timberwolf. This is from a die-hard Stihl man. Have fun with your decision!

Convince him on the Timberwolf. For only 100 more than the CS400 it's a no brainer. Not sure what the weight difference is but I'm sure it's negligible. I really wish I needed a 60cc so I'd have an excuse to buy one.:D

Yea echo makes good stuff. Pallet Pete bought the timber wolf.

They I guess dont have the market share to jack their prices yet. I think one day it comes.

I have a uses echo wee deter that I bought off my landsacapper friend. Run daily for I dont know how long and then I ran it in my yard for a few years and rebuilt the carb and it still is going like 5 years later. I paid $50 for it.

I forgot about them, shows how overlooked they are.

Awesome :dex:. Only thing about Echo is their terribly restricted mufflers. Keep in mind, when it comes to first hand experience I'm basing this on my CS400. Bet the damm thing weighed a pound! I've read the same thing on other Echos though. Still awesome saws. Buy a spare muffler so you don't void your warranty and have at it.

If you change your mind and consider a used saw, definitely look into the 361 NewToStihl is offering. I would be all over that if I were you, but I don't give a hoot about any warranty. IMO the 391 is over priced for what it is.

big weight difference between a 590 timberwolf and the cs-400. but here is food for thought. cs-400 and 500 are new never fueled. 600p is used with fluids drained and oil tank flushed out. 600 and the 590 will be very similar weight as the only major AS 003.JPG Saw Weights 001.JPG saws for sale 002.JPG difference between them is plastic vs metal wrap handle.

For that kind of money? I'd look into a 261C-M (new), or a 362C-M, 441C-M, 460, or 461. If it was my money....

But... a new 391 is a great saw and should last for numerous years with a good diet of fuel and oil

Prell-what dealer do you go to? I go to Denison.

Brett-$200-250 for an 039? That sounds cheap to me. Buddy has an 039 and swears by it.

It's pretty easy for us to spend your money, the biggest the best and most awesome !! for over 600 bucks I would look at other saws. Not enough in the 391, you seem like a you favor the stihls, save and move up or look at some other great saws for that price.
