Today we got out early and I couldn't help but saw some stuff up. As I pulled in the driveway my package from ( treestuff.com ) ( shameless plug ) arrived with a boatload of chains.:thumbs: Well that's always a good sign of what I'm gonna do next..... The Villiage allowed me to sign a waiver and in essence contract for tree removal for them so I went to the park and they let me in. The tree that was to be removed was shall we say a GIGANTIC pine.

The first one I took was a little guy that tipped in the storm recently.

Then came the biggin. o_O I have never taken a pine so big the trunk was 29"across image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg
Only about half fit my truck so I'm gonna have to go back next weekend with the splitter and fill up again. It's a beautiful almost perfectly straight beast. :tree::axe::drool:

This was the little tree. It is already at 6.5%mc unreal I say. Finding one that dry not rotted around here almost never happens. image.jpg

This is about half what I squeezed in the truck. I took the pic went to leave and couldn't bring myself too:whistle: Sooo I climbed back out of the cab and kept cutting until I topped it off. The park has an open field next to it so the wind is REALLY cold. My face shield actually broke the wind nicely, funny I never thought of that before.

Did you drop the bigger pine? It looks like it was rotten where you were cutting the wedge & back cut.

    Upside down, a few pics.o_O

Nice deal.... Do you have to take care of the brush in a certain manner?

Yes it has to be stacked neatly so the village can come take it to the burn pile.

Nice score. That big tree is a Norway Spruce. I have burned a fair bit of Norway Spruce because they're popular here and get really big. Spruce makes nice kindling too, and if you find a straight piece without branches it is easy to split small. The part with large branches is a pain to split.

We have tons of different pine around here. I don't even try too keep track of them anymore but I thought it smelled like evergreen.

Nice score Pete!! Lots of good shoulder wood, kindling, and "at home" wood. I don't mind burning punks, chunks, pine, and uglies when I'm home. :)

Pete, we'll give you some more practice dropping pines very soon. I still have to get hold of wishlist but expect to be cutting sometime in the next couple weeks. I'll no doubt be calling on AC too. We may as well have a party. Wife is even talking about what she is going to be feeding us! We might have some fun doing this!

That might sound good Dexter but I'd have to get permission from the land owners for sure. Not sure they would accept too many there to help but I very well may inquire about this. As for distance, we are about 5 hours from Cleveland, depending upon how heavy your shoes are.
