Nice gas. I brought a truckload of sugar maple up to the house this morning. White out conditions now and temps falling to low single digits by evening. We're ready :dancer:

Makes a big difference doesn't it Gasifier ? Our son was just at the cabin for 2 nights. Told him I always get the stove going good and hot, then move all of the dry inside wood to the right of the rack to make room for the same amount coming in from out under the metal roofing scraps. He said he was sooooo happy he did that during the middle of the night. Ice cold, snow knocked off, but semi dry wood... just helps to put the fire down. Leave it in the rack for 12 hours and it's no big deal. Here's that rack behind the stove...

    Is that ash, Gas?

I've been bringing an extra Rubbermaid tub in full so we limit the trips outside. Warm wood burns better than cold wood, even in a fireplace.

Makes me nervous seeing wood that close to the stoves.

No more waiting. The cold is here! It would not be bad except when the wind is blowing at 30 and gusting to 39, that really makes 9 degrees feel frigid!

That stove you see in pic #1 is not heating Dennis. That is just for back-up. The boiler is insulated on the sides and you can actually put your hand right on it. Not so on the front and back though!

First cold night for our area. Next 36 hours of boiler dinner. Ash and a few pieces of Elm that have been getting even more dried out for several days in the boiler room.

There will also be a few scoops of pellets going in as well. :fire:

Yep the cold is upon us. Temps stayed around 30° all day and started dropping quickly as the sun went down. Calling for 16° tonight and 5° tomorrow night :coldfire:

But hey it is winter aint it? We've been lucky so far
