We found our best friend "Buster" succumb to old age today after work. We will have him cremated tomorrow. In his youth, he was an excellent hiker. We would go on a day hike and he would lead the way, and when we came to a fork in the trail he would stop and let me decide which way to go. Even during the last year and a half, being on medication for his heart disease (which we thought was the right choice, since he was not suffering) he was so excited to see us after work, jumping around like he was a puppy again. He knows he was loved and well taken care of. It was a pleasure having Buster as a part of our family.

Below is more recent photos of him sleeping in his favorite spot, in front of the wood stove.

Thanks guys...... this is certainly some tough chit. Although he has passed, he will lay in his spot by the woodstove one last night until we take him to be cremated in the morning.
