Did a little tidying up around the stacks and took some new measurements. Have went through 2 1/3 cords so far.
About 2 1/2 used here. Did you ever figure last years winter forever total use ? Just wondering if you compare year to year.
Did the same thing, LP...I figured I used about 2 1/3 cord too. Hope the rest of February isn't too hostile
Yeah I did some "tidying" myself. Had shovel a path through the 30" snow pack to get to my next stack (red maple) - and remove the 4' of snow on top of it. I was almost out of wood on the porch, and we have another deep freeze moving in this weekend - they're talking lows of -10! So 2 porch loads so far puts me at around 2.5 cords used - not counting shoulder. Burned around 1/2 cord of poplar, got another 1/2 to burn if I run out of this maple. Got about a cord of the maple.
I have a cord on the patio outside the stove room that I keep replenishing but I think toward the end of the month I'll just start burning that exclusivly and then if I need a little more I'll just bring up as needed to finish off. I have said that before though and not done it because if the weather warms up into March or something there is a lot of red oak mixed into that cord so I could always leave that for next year. I guess we'll just see how it goes.
I need to do the same and clean up some more snow and bring in another pile to the back porch. Talking 2-3 tonight then 6-12" Sat. night into Sunday temps. -2 tonight and low teens all weekend. Have burned 2+ cords of red oak and a cord of pine.
Whoa. I'd not be liking 4' of snow on the piles nor would I like the 30" snow on the ground between wood and house. I not so fondly remember one year at Christmas time we looked at snow and then got more.
I'm not even sure but I must have burned 6 full cord and 10 bags of mixed blend pellets through the gasser since September-ish. That's a word. Right?
