I think it's power equipment anyway How come no one tells you the vacuum cleaner isn't working well until it's clogged tight! Just spent an hour removing a nice clump of cat hair and fake pine needles from the intake. And then unclogging every single filter.
Same thing in my house as well. I have to tear it down 3 or 4 times a year and clean it out. Usually looks like a crime scene in it when I get it opened up. My favorite tools for cleaning the house vac. are my shop vac. and a razor knife to cut out the miles of hair. Gotta house full of girls don't cha know.
Just don't do like a guy I used to work with and try to empty a fuel tank on a tractor with a vacuum cleaner. Apparently he didn't stop to think that electric motors and gas fumes aint the best combination in the world. He was lucky but the shop vac didn't fare so well and neither did his underware when it exploded. And to think, the guy was an L.T. in a far off jungle in the mid 60's.
Likely too late, but I am the one that dismantles and cleans the vacuums, and changes the full bags! I actually got new bags out and changed both vac's after reading this morning. Where's the pat myself on the back smiley? On the other hand I am the one bringing home the truck on empty
I traveled for work a few decades ago, my team-mate had a wife and 6 teenage daughters.... They gave up on cleaning hairspray off the walls, instead he just repainted every 6 months.
I'm waiting for you to post what mods you did to it and some before and after videos picking up dust bunnies.
Even with our Dyson animal we had problems like this. Then we bought a Hyla and I never had to clean a filter again. Any filtered unit loses suction as soon as it starts to vacuum. The Hyla uses 100% water filtration. No loss of suction.
My wife tries to use the vac to pick up the floors. My vac gets hung up every week or two by socks, string, yarn, straws, and most everything else. Thank goodness the dyson comes apart easily. Try as she may, this vac hasn't broken down. I'm OK with it. Esp. since having pulling out most of the carpeting. That had to be one of the best home improvements. I have two labs and six cats.
I am on the fence between carpet and hard floors. The carpet seemed so easy to vacuum up, but when the vacuum became cumbersome for me to use, we had the carpet removed and oak floors put in. I was amazed at was in and under the carpet we removed. The hardwood floors showed dust and pet hair quickly, but atleast I knew it was there and the carpet was not camouflaging it. I miss walking on carpet but appreciate the hard floors too. Things are different in my new home, less pets, but very muddy, staying with hard flooring, this time laminate
Those carpets fill up with a lot of unhealthy stuff. You don't want to be breathing it, or "feeding it". There are a wealth of hardwood cleaning devices which are very lightweight and attract dust and dirt for easy pickup. Spills clean up easily and no stains. I put a high quality laminent floor down. It is very thick, so no hollow sound when you walk on it. We even put this on our stairs. I'm having the carpet remove from our downstairs bedroom before we move into it. I'll put runners down. Easy to clean and and to replace.
