Theres a new splitter in town!

And its at our house! We saved up $1400 for a splitter and after looking hard at the Ariens 22 ton and really liking it I was set back when the Home Depot rep told me this morning when I walked in cash in hand! " We won't ship it to store free you need to pay freight! " That's a first I have bought thousands of dollars of items there over the years and love the place like a second home! and they know me by name... There was nothing they could do as that was on Ariens end according to them.

As this will be our first new splitter I didn't want to argue with a wall even one I like so I moved on to somebody who would make a good deal. We have had an (electric 5 ton purchased refurbished ) ( a very old 22 ton huskee ) and ( a 20 ton home made unit)

So we went to a few other places and ended up at Lowes where there was a Dirty Hand 22 ton setting there for $999! I said I have cash and offered $900 and they said no because it was already on sale in store down from $1099 eventually they offered $950 and I agreed. It feels good to buy our very first brand new unit in cash and get a 10.5 sec cycle time!!!!



Well it was on the short list as our next splitter already so without further suspense here she is!

Except now its all covered in road salt from the 34 mile road trip! I am gonna be scrubbing her all up tonight because I can't use a car wash in the winter cold without icing it all up.

 

No wet wipes here just a bottle of simple green, a roll of paper towel and some spray wax. Its going to be fun detailing it in the garage in front of the heater!!!!

 

Actually I think the wife is more excited about this than I am!

 

Holy cow my arm hurts lol. The first start was a bear 31 pulls I counted..... That said it runs nice and smokeless! The motor is much quiet than any Briggs I have owned and the splitter does NOT rattle to high heaven like others I have owned or used. Non of the stickers are staying on they are peeling so I'll probably remove them soon as I couldn't care less about them.

I fired it up and the hoses all needed to be tightened they where spraying oil everywhere! I had a moment of WTH! Then it hit me turn it off!! So after some fine tuning she runs great and pretty darn fast too.

 

No idea if it was I didn't smell gas at all and it didn't show signs of being flooded. I think it was just a hard first start. I'm not worried about it at any rate it fires up beautifully now and runs like a champ! My guess is the assembly guys don't know what they are doing.... The motor was not bolted on all the way either but I checked that first thank goodness. Honestly I expected poor assembly after looking at the country line splitters and how loose all the fittings on those where.

You are right it's a nice splitter!
