Almost got in a bad wreck. Following 2 semis waiting for them to get to speed. Going about 60. Semi 3 comes flying up from behind pulls out to pass with oncoming traffic. Dynamite my brakes the oncoming car is stomping their brakes and getting ready to take ditch. Semi 3 barely pulls into the gap I made. Follow him and ask WTF. He proceded to yell at me that it was my fault. Have the license and carrier name...do I file a report with HWY PATROL? Usually not a rat but this was almost a life and death situation!

So glad everyone is OK. Hopefully its error for him and that he is not a repeat offender, like you said, lives at risk.

Ticks me off seing how I used to drive for a living 130,00 miles a year in a semi and I always put thought out for truckers while driving my pickup and don't pull out or pass if there is any question.

Trying to pass 2 semis and a car/truck?
I don't suppose you were going up an incline with limited sight distance too?
    What a moron.
He's in a hurry, but it's your fault he did something stupid.
I say again, what a moron.

This is my husband towards the front of the pack in white truck w green water tank in back. Pace cars for an oversize load ahead had them all doing extremely slow speeds for over 40 miles. The semis in the picture started acting up. Dear husband just let off the gas to make room when fed ex truck in back made it to the front of the pack. Bad behavior on both the oversize load and the fed ex guy. Your guy sounds like a road rage jerk. I80CountyRd402East.jpg

I reported a guy a couple months ago that barely managed to pull off a dangerous double yellow line pass as he texted.

Had the joy of watching the trooper pull him over.

I'd report him too. Drunk drivers, dangerous drivers, distracted drivers. What the hell gives one person the right to endanger the lives of others? Of little kids?

One of my pet peeves is tailgaters. My attitude is "if I'm driving too slow for you and you really have somewhere you have to be so you're on my a$$ then maybe you should have left wherever you're coming from a little earlier because I'm not going any faster to make you happy." I have two little kids and their car seats are in the backseat of my car facing backwards so I'm guessing that on a relatively clear sunny day if you're tailgating me you can see the fact that I have two kids back there. if you can see my kids and you're still tailgating me then you're really pressing my buttons. It makes me very angry but i won't do anything about it because I have the kids in the car.

I would not only report the guy in this story but I would take a picture of myself while making the call to report him, make that into a xmas card, then send it to him with the caption "I'm the one that reported you mother-----."

The CDL drivers should know better, they know stupid driving like that will put their commercial license at risk.

I'd report him. It's his job to be safe. He clearly wasn't.

I've seen semi drivers do some really stupid things over the years. A couple ended up badly. Typically semi drivers are the better drivers though.

When you are driving a vehicle 40-80k lbs you really need to watch it.

I've also seen a lot of automobile drivers do some dumb things too. I've done a couple dumb things, like most people, mostly when I was young, but I learned from them.

First, I would contact the company to report what happened and also let them know that you will also be reporting this to the hwy patrol. Let them know you contact both.

Accidents happen and sometimes people just make dumb mistakes. Nothing intentional. That is, most folks would fit into that category. Then we do have the category that just wants to hog everything and don't care about others. Then we have the idiots who do things like texting or stupid things like watching women putting on makeup or ear-rings or other stupid things.

I was driving a bucket truck with another one following me one night. A freakin semi passed us both on a double yellow going into a curve. He almost hit the oncoming car. Because of the curve I didn't see him until he was beside me. Scared the chit outta me, I can only imagine how the person in the car felt. I was going 50 (the speed limit), so I can only imagine his speed.

I've called trucking companies, school bus companies, garbage truck companies and local/county governments to report dangerous/unsafe/stupid drivers.

Thanks all for your insight. I waited a half hour and was still mad about it. Tried to call his base camp and no answer. Called the HP and was directed to a patrolman. He took my info said he was heading there and will keep an eye for him and let local enforcement know as well. Said it is tough to prosecute if no witness by lawman. However he said it will be a very thorough log book and mechanical inspection and a axle weight check with a pep talk about safe driving all on top of a notation for future traffic stops of a history of dangerous driving that will come up on a computer license check. HP thanked me for calling and having such good information. Said he wished more people would do that. This was not a related truck but with the oil boom in ND truck traffic has become horrendous and I don't like traveling certain hiways now because of it. I wish we never had oil with the scum it brought here and the problems they bring with.

That reminds me of an interesting (but oh so true in my case) thing I heard years ago. Offensive people never hesitate to offend, but the "nice" compliant people tend to forget or even make excuses for the offenders sometimes. I am guilty of exactly that in my first post.:emb:

Saying something unkind is easy to overlook but your post was talking about life and death.

If it is a large outfit, reach out and contact their safety dept. You'll get better results with that route as opposed to involving LE. They will want unit# and or plate# as well as date, time and location. @ the minimum he will get a arse reaming from safety and if he has had past complaints it could lead to more. These companies have ACTIVE safety depts. to route out the "COWBOYS" and try and control their liability rates.

I always give truckers the benefit of the doubt. However; they destroy the benefit by pulling stunts like what you describe. Sadly I'd report this.
