Cut a load of wood. Got a couple of loads in the basement. Found a old honey bees nest in a tree that had fell. Cleaned out my chimney. First time in about 6 years and this is all I got out.

The old bee hive is cool looking. Not bad after six years. I don't think I would have the guts to wait that long before cleaning.

What a hive...must have been thousands living in it?

    Melt the honey comb down.
Bee's wax has lots of uses.

I look at it every year. Stainless double wall insulated about 25 feet.
The bee hive was at least 2 foot long and a good 6 inches deep in both parts of the tree. It forked as it came out of the ground and one side had fell.

Great pics WVwood , enjoyed seeing the honey bees hive.
6 yrs is a long time for no cleaning, good results despite the long time without.

That looks more like wood ash then creosote from a chimney. Creosote is usually much blacker.
