Glass cleaning

Every couple of days i give the glass on my hastings a good cleaning to keep it looking nice. I usually use a rag with some store bought stove glass cleaner but the other day i noticed a cleaning tip in my manual. It says to dip a damp paper towel/rag in some ashes and wipe the glass down. Then give it a final wipe with a dry towel. Man does this work great! Anyone else use this method?

 

Easiest & cheapest method. It's all I used.....works great!

 

I think it was imacman who turned me on to that method.It works very well.

Damp newspaper in ashes works great too.

 

Been doing it that way for a while now. Glass is truly clean.. From stove clean-out on January 9, 2015. Paper towels dry out in a couple hours and then toss 'em in..

 

I tried this...But my paper towel keeps catching on fire when I dip it in the ash!!

 

Sounds like the moisture content of your paper towel is too low... How long do you season your paper towels before you use them?

 

I used a glass top cleaner my wife uses on the stove/oven and it works wonders. I cleaned the glass with paper towel and it was wiping clean, put some of that cream on there and all the black impurities came out. Shiny new glass
