Got a foot of snow overnight - good thing I shoveled yesterday! I heard the groundhog just laughed and said "look around pal you live in Buffalo! You never heard of lake effect?!"

I'm not sure the groundhog would want to come out today

Unlike opossum and coon, they are vegetarian. They don't eat road kill for dinner like opossums do. I had it for supper when I was younger. It was a juvenile hog and tasty. It was cooked by a southern grandma so I am sure it was fried in a large dose of bacon fat which helped the taste.

Ground hog isn't to bad to eat... kinda greasy.. but amazingly tender, and a dark meat. I've had it at a wild game feed a few times. When I was a butcher we supplied a old boy that smoked meat over an open pit fire... Old Wille always hounded me to get him "a fat old ground piggy" to smoke. Never got a chance before he passed away, might try smoking one this summer.

Yes, I was out this morning shoving around quite a bit of that white stuff but thankfully not a foot. The heavier snow barely missed us but we still got 6-7".

So, the ground did not see his shadow there but he did here. What does that mean?

Well, in our case it is supposed to mean we'll have 6 more weeks of winter. But in your case, you can rest easy because you know spring will be here in only 6 more weeks! Congratulations!
