In my area or at least the people i know dont measure in cords we just go by truckloads I was just curious how many truck loads it would take to = a cord. Im guessing a truck with standard 8 foot bed wood tossed in a little high in the middle would get in the neighborhood of 1/2 -3/4 of a cord maybe give or take
FYI You can tell im bored. Its raining here maybe snow later and I cleaned the saws yesterday touched up the chains, changed oil in the solitter snd tractor cleaned them too after I was done for the day Now I have nothing to do but read, think and wish I was out doing something. Should have saved the cleaning amd oil changes for today ugh
Full cord measure 4X4X8. 8' long bed X 4' wide plus 2' tall load (which would be over the height of the rails) =1/2 cord. Allow a little extra for the extra space in the bed in front and back of wheel wells (unless you have a step side) and subtract a little extra for "thrown in wood". Abought 1/2 cord, no?
Thats whst i was estimsting too in my case prob less depending how far I have to go depends on how much I put on the truck i usually go level with the bed if its green and if standing dead a little more
Yeah, 8ft bed stacked pretty tight should equal around half a cord. On my Ranger which is a 6ft bed I figure about a third of a cord per truckload if it's stacked tight and high.
You can get a 1/2 cord in a full size pickup, 8 foot bed, no step side, short box, ram box loads though. All of those others are 1/3 cord, or a face. This is stacked, not tossed. I use a trailer, 4x8 (no wheel wells) with a 2 foot high load, tossed not stacked equated to a heavy face, or 1/3 cord. By the house, for use that season, I stack 10feet x 18" x 4' high. One trailer load thrown in to that trailer as above is one of my rows.
For the most part I am close to a cord when stacked in the truck. Sometimes I am even with the racks and sometimes I stack past the racks. If I was buying wood from somebody I would want a true cord and not a stacked truck. Most guys don't stack the trucks to a cord.
This comes out to about 2.6 face cord or .86 full cord on my truck. It is a load of dry wood that went to a customer in the fall.
How much do they charge for a truckload around you Woodrat? This is around here. http://www.kijiji.ca/v-buy-sell-oth...od/1047385791?enableSearchNavigationFlag=true
I really dont keep up with going rates. I cut my own. But i did a check and found various prices. This one seems about the avg for a cord http://cincinnati.craigslist.org/for/4831473306.html
Well, since the Op asked about a truck load TOSSED in and not stacked, I say a 1/3 cord or a face cord or if you is from south of the Mason Dixon line, a rick of wood. Around these parts the folks selling wood all sell by the loose truck bed load (8 foot box). That is not stacked nice and neat, just thrown in. And then they advertise mixed hard woods which here in my neck of the woods means any thing that aint an evergreen. But then in my line of work I have removed enough Yews (Taxus) from old landscapes to know that them suckers are harder than the hubs of h-ll.
