Just got me a new (to me) wood hauling BEAST! Its a '93 Ford F-150...300 straight 6 with 5 speed..CL find with 1st load of (you guessed it ) CL free Oak! I have been using a '92 Ranger and it just wasn't big enough and the 4 cylinder was great on gas, but not so good on torque or payload. Looking forward to many a scrounged load!
Yea..that is one of the best..I had a couple of late '70s F series with the 300 and "3 on the tree" manual and they are bulletproof. Only got rid of them when gas went through the $4 range. I could buy them for $1500, work them for 2-3 years and sell them for the same price.
You got that right! I will never buy on a hill again..really hard to stack, and had more than 1 stack go over!
For sure there are some tricks you can use but stacking on unlevel ground will test anyone's ability. Good luck.
Crap, all the pics I see of trucks older than mine and virtually no rust makes me feel real bad! With the rust on my truck, I am wondering if it will be able to handle my normal loads this summer.....
Those trucks are beasts, and the 300 6 is a good engine. Check out timbren helper springs for the front and back, it will help out on the carrying capacity.
Awesome truck man, nothing beats and 8ft box when you're hauling firewood with your pickup. How many miles are on her?
The 300 is an animal! My good friend has one in his 89 F-150 and still going at about 350,000. "I'm not advertising" but he and I both use Castrol oil and my last Dodge I had with the 318 V-8 had 260,000 plus when I sold it, 5 years ago and it's still driving around, my buddys truck is a daily driver he uses for work, junk, etc.... Motor runs as smooth as could be
I have the same truck only 1987. I put some heavy air shocks in it and it's been fantastic. Great old truck. I think you have more paint on yours though. Enjoy!
