33 here pretty the high for the day. A couple of inches of snow, it looks like. Went down stairs and got my basement stash of wood, so not to go outside in the snow...

Hammerhead, thanks for posting that info. Interesting stove. I know nothing about smoke dragons, but I wondered about the stove because the stovetop and flue temps you posted for your normal long burn sound similar to cat stove temps, cooler than most post for secondary burn stoves. The design is interesting, and clearly was an early attempt to get a clean burn, with adjustable secondary air on top, an extended smoke path to provide longer time for the smoke to burn, an extended flue tube within the stove to secondary burn. I suspect it may be a relatively clean burning, efficient stove for a smoke dragon. I like your install, looks sharp. What is the name of the company that made the stove?

Cold as anything with a lot more snow on the way; 8-14 inches, after a foot last week!

Cold here too. Just raked forward to start burning down the large coal bed. Would estimate about 1 1/2 cubic feet or Ironwood and sugar maple coals in there now, from a midnight load. Stove top is still at 225. (correction: 260-still in the silver range on the magnetic thermometer-for some reason my instinct is to think of the start of the silver range as 225, when in fact it is just above 250) should start to climb again with the coals raked forward and the air open about 2 inches. I'm hoping the coals will burn down fairly quickly, given the outside temp (increased draft to help burn down, increased heat loss to make me want them to burn down faster) - hope the bed is small enough to justify a reload in about two hours. If not, will likely reload on a larger than ideal coal bed. Want to keep the temp up in the house. Will burn my remaining ash during the day, then on to sugar maple and ironwood for the rest of the season, until shoulder season.

Addendum: Just checked, officially -2 F here (although we are always a few degrees colder than that in my specific location), temps supposed to "climb" to -1 F by 11 AM, high here today 3 degrees F at 3 PM. Sunny til 11, cloudy as it warms. Think Artan and I will go for a nice walk while the sun shines.

Let the stove die out yesterday afternoon around 2 or 3 pm. Stayed pretty comfortable all evening, was 74 when I went to bed.
Woke up 4:30 am. Snowing like crazy, 14 outside 67 inside.
Fired up the stove 5 or 5:30, oak and maple splits.
    at 7:30 it's 15 outside, 70 upstairs, 80 downstairs.

We had about -3 this morning, the temp in the basement was 78, the floor temp in the living room was 73.5 (IR Gun) the floor in the sleeper was 71.

We're still burning Yellow Birch with the pellet stove at night, just the wood stove during the day.

Wind is blowing chit all over here. Just nasty outside. Snow is coming down and blowing all over. When you shovel one place, about 15 minutes later it is like you were never there! thewoodlands looks like you will have enough snow after today to get some sled time. Glad for you guys! Enjoy it. Hopefully you will get some nice temps and sunshine to enjoy.:dex:

The big ole pines are blocking most of the wind back here but once you get on Rte. 56 it's a whole different story.

It looks like I'll be plowing to the stacks with the rhino again, I'm glad we pushed in our wood for this week yesterday.

0 F here, 20 MPH wind from the North coming the length of the lake, snowing since last night.

+: I don't have to shovel. There is no snow in the yard or on the steps. I'm up a 75 foot cliff , about 30 feet back from the top of the cliff and about 150 feet back from the lake. Some drifts a bit further away from the lake.

-: It's brrrrrrrr.......according to the weather forecast, it is "frigid" with wind chill -33.....

And Thursday is supposed to be colder.

    Bet Rottiman is chilly:(

Went from 38º last night at 11 to 25º this morning at 7, then down to 14º at 8:15. Been hangin right there all day, took the wife for a Dr. check and then out for a late breakfast. Back home and loaded a few pieces on a big coal bed. Sitting right on 75º in the upstaris living room and feels real nice. Heading for 0 or below tonight, will pack the stove full at bedtime.
