I was wondering what the power difference between a ported 2172 jonsered and a stock 2186 jonsered would be? Wondering if there was someone that has ran the saws or something comparable?
Yup... And a fine saw.. But a ported 372 is a freaking powerhouse.. Only a well ported 385 can take it..
My 2172 must not be ported very well, because my ported 2188 is way more powerful than my ported 2172...
Ported 390 should be stronger than a ported 372.. But.... I've seen strong 372's that are nipping at their heels..
A ported 2172 over a stock 2186 (385) is way different than a ported 2171 vs ported 2188 (390). That 2188 sounds great! There are 70 cc unicorn saws out there though lol Just for weight savings, I'd take the ported 70 cc saw over the 80 cc stock (385) saw.
I wonder how well those "strong 372s" pull a longer bar... like a 28" or 32" in big wood? Or are they built to run a 20" bar in small wood? I can't imagine them out-cutting a 390 in big wood... I like a 70-80cc saw for most of the cutting I do. My 2188 feels a bit too big for general firewood cutting, but it sure is fun! A 70cc feels just right!
Said strong 372's will whip "many" ported 85-90 cc saws even in 30" wood... I've even seen a "well built" 365xp drub a ported 461 in big wood... Those old school quad port husky's are capable of producing some impressive power...
I'm about to find out next week.. 2171 vs 460 vs 461 all Mastermind'd. Coming soon to a Forum near you!
I honestly haven't been around all that many ported saws... but the ones in those videos look like they pull a long bar pretty good. The 066 was faster, though.
