I have a horizontal splitter and the logs keep sliding and bouncing all over the place. other than waiting for spring, any suggestions?

Right where I want to be.
Take it slow getting the "blade" into the wood.
Then, should be gooder to go.
I've got a bunch of Oak that's covered in ice and snow that I need to get split too.
Or, you could wait for spring......I don't like that option though.

It never seemed to be a problem for me and my hydraulic splitter. The wood didn't slip out of place. The splitter worked normally in frozen wood as with dry wood. When it is 20 degrees F or below, the wood snaps apart crisply.

After I was done, I've tried to wipe and blow the accumulated moisture off the splitter so it wouldn't rust.

I have the split second log splitter, so slow is not an option. I guess i will keep trying.

for those of us with hydraulic splitters I like parking my splitter in the garage over night to get the fluid above freezing. Just makes it easy for the motor and pump.

I kinda like when the pieces are a little icy in winter, they move around a little easier for me.
    The still split the same

How about jamming it into the wedge first, then hit the whammo lever?

Yes. Now I see your issue. Any way to warm the wood - Is it in your truck bed, trailer, etc that would allow to get it into a garage?
