We were expecting 18-30 inches, but only got a foot where I am. The biggest pain was that all the firewood I stockpiled under my covered deck in preparation got covered in snow because of the wind gusts. After banging a few together to get a load I knew it would be a waste of time and frustrating once the snow turned from powder to ice. So I got the idea to blow it with my leaf blower and it worked like a charm! Anyone else do this or am I the only weirdo?
I brought a half cord and stacked it on the patio up against the house , not thinking blizzard means north wind and guess how the stack was exposed. Snow filled every gap between every split. Course, I only covered the top, too. My leaf blower is stored in the shed and I just sealed the shed door tight with several cubic feet of snowblower discharge from fairly heavy snow. I'm not getting to that today.
Not weird at all. I did my back porch stack. Snow got through the screens and in every nook and cranny today. It was blowing every which way.
Boats and outboards are my life at work, The leaf blower gets used a good deal on pontoons and such cleaning them off before bringing them into the shop or storage. (powder snow, leaves, pine needles…) Wood stack use is fine in my book.
I've been known to wake the neighbors using my leaf blower to clean my trucks off after getting 8" or so of powder snow on more than one occasion
Been doing that all winter! Works like a charm with powdery snow! Now I can tell my wife I'm not the only one!!
I use the leaf blower to clear snow of job sites and equipment all the time. Also have a few at the fire department to put out grass and field fires. ~Nathan
I tell you a leaf blower is an awesome tool in the fire department for grass and field fires... walk the fire line blowing the flames and embers back into the burnt area... works like a charm... sounds crazy but works! Also good for cleaning up broken glass and plastic from car wrecks on the highway. Just realized I rarely use a "leaf blower" for it's intended use. ~Nathan
Woke up this AM and cleared my driveway of the whopping 1" of powder left by the "storm of the century". I cleared the driveway, walkways and the deck in less than 10 minutes. Works more gooder!
My brother in law uses his leaf blower to dry his truck after he washes it. My sister-in-law says he's weird also but it works.
Do it all the time with the wood in the carport Bill. Got an electric stihl sitting out there just for that reason.
Mulching blade and side exhaust, it might blow snow I've often thought a leafblower might work with snow. can't stand the noise they make blowing leaves, doing a task I can do with a rake and square of burlap.... Loon - Is the electric stihl quiet to operate? How much does that run?
