Now that I can see, there is definitely over a foot in the back yard, most of my patio is 2+ ft deep drift.

Weather update, around 21 degrees, highest wind gust recorded by my weather station is 47 mph, close to 2 feet of snow but hard to tell with all the drifting. Still have power which is good!

Please note the lack of snow! The winds are calm, crows are out making noise this am.

Jharkins photos show what we were told would be happening here last night. As of the weather forecast at 7pm, I should have woken up to 6-9" on the ground already!:picard:

They are making a mockery of weather forecasting. They just lifted the SOE that was declared yesterday at noon. Lots of businesses closed today, that's real money lost. I'm at home taking an unpaid day off for a storm that is at the very least, late. Weather forecasting isn't just for entertainment, real people/businesses use it everyday. My employer shut down at 3pm yesterday. In that one business alone, that's hundreds of thousands of dollars in lost revenue from two shifts we could have safely run so far. How are we supposed to know if it's safe to operate or not if every coastal storm system becomes the "storm of the century" to generate ratings? :heidi: We are completely indoors in a heated and air conditioned shop, as long as we can safely get to work, there's no reason we can't operate in a blizzard if we have power.

Thankfully no. In fact it's supposed to be 70° here today. I'm not at home, however. Needed a little get away after all that happened in my life last week. Returning to reality tomorrow.

Same thing here, I guess it pushed a lot further East than the experts predicted .

About 18" and windy. Tractor is plugged in for an easy start. Cleanup #1 after my coffee. Ain't no thang. This is the low side of the range I am on the edge of.

The dogs made my day watching them leap to the back woods to do their morning business.

I feel bad for you guys in NY/NJ who got bad forecasts... but I think you are ovvereacting. Remember its a prediction, a guess, based on very complex computer models analyzing an unpredictable chaotic system. They dont have a time machine and they cant see the future. Sometimes the models get it wrong. I would say in the last 5 years they have guessed correct far more often than they did in the 80s or even the 90s.

If they had told you it would be nothing and then you got the blizzard of the century people would be at risk and you (thats the collective you meaning everyone online, not anyone in this thread personally) would be calling for these guys to get fired. Sure they sensationalize it, but what do we expect ? Cut 'em a break :)

[ EDIT: excluding the weather channel. Those morons make a big deal out of everything and would give a drizzle a name, they deserve to be ignored.]

So far for eastern MA our forecats have been spot on perfect.

It looks like about 14" now. Temp is now 12 degrees. Wind gusts around 20+ I am heading out for round one cleanup to stay on top of it. Living room is 80 degrees with a reloaded stove.

Central Ma. and Worcester area at 25" with a heavy snow band remaining in place for the past few hours. The snow is very light and should be easy to move.

It doesn't bother me that I missed the full force of this storm ,less work for me looks like all I got to clean up is the snow that the plow left at the end of my drive way.

All you folks in MA stay safe

I'm not miffed but kinda puzzled. They usually nail where a hurricane is gonna land.
We got a dusting last nite. Our snow machine to the west is shutoff. Be lucky if we get 30" the rest of the winter unless the lake deices .

Just went out and replaced a wood block that secures the bottom front left tarp on my wood shelter.. Wasn't easy to resecure with the wind blasting!Wind blew so hard it managed to pull the nailed on clamp block off! New block has 3 screws.. Have to say this method of securing tarps on a wood shelter works great! Has withstood 47 MPH wind so far! Lots of snow here as it went over my knees and I wasn't touching the ground lol.. Too windy to attempt snow blower right now..

The power outage situation is definitely not as bad as expected, which is a good thing.
