Wow, we had a fatal house fire just down from here about 1 mile. Don't have a lot of details yet, but the FD would have had their hands full as it was -20f. Drove by it this a.m., house is totally gutted as well as 2 vehicles. Fire Marshal is on scene now. Sad for sure.
I know how that suck I was a firefighter for13yrs I've seen some bad things hopefully the Red Cross will help them out.
Thats bad news rottti. http://www.ottawasun.com/2015/01/26/fire-marshal-called-to-fatal-fire-in-pembroke
Dang. That was ugly. Always sad to hear or read about. Fortunately we've heard of nothing like that around here so far this season.
Whole thing is really strange. New dodge 4x4 in driveway hit rear of car parked in breezeway. Truck is gutted from fire. Car is unburnt as well as a second car in front of the first as well as breezeway connected to house untouched by fire. The entire interior of the house is gutted. No sign of fire between the vehicle and the house interior. Scene makes no sense. Provincial police and provincial fire marshal investigating. As of 3 this afternoon there wasn't a soul around the unsecured scene.
They should keep the scene secure until the investigation is done . When I was the fire chief i had localscops keep the scene secure until we and the fire marshal were done with the investigation. So no one was messin with anything.
Well, the mystery is over. Apparently in the midst of divorcing, the victim drove his truck into the rear of his wife's parked car. He then doused himself with gasoline and ignited same while sitting in his truck. He then ran into the house to the bedroom. Fortunately she had taken refuge in the basement prior to his arrival. He succumbed to his injuries and she escaped un hurt. A sad situation for sure.
Why, why, why... just damm. Sooooo glad she was unhurt (physically). What an awful story Rotti... wow. So sad.
Wow. Im glad she made it out alive, but i am sure she is deeply damaged inside because of this guys actions.
