I need firewood for 14/15. I also need to clean this mess up. So a bit of dead scotch pine, ran into a few small box elders and then, in a different neck of the woods, a nice Ash.
Dis dead elm just outside the yard will be nice BTUs. And no, I won't be splitting it by hand! LOL The larger Ash in the front is a nice tree. The one just to the right is the Elm. It is already leaning for me but there is a wind. So a small notch just for chits and giggles. Dogs don't like the chainsaw, or my chaps, or my helmet.
This is some type of Birch tree. Looks like a Silver, not positive. But I am positive it is deader than a door knob. And it is coming back in the truck right now.
This thing was friggin heavy. Soaking up the water as it came down off the hill I guess. Diced up and in the truck. Once I got these pieces in the truck they stayed on the bed floor! LOFL I did not want to move the big uns again! With Black Betty and Refugee jammin on the radio I made short work of it. Now to find a nice Ash. A real nice Ash can be elusive, don't cha know. I remember saying that many times when I was younger! A Ha Ha Ha!
I have to walk this one down. Get a lot of these in this woods. Another Ash. Hung in a Pine on the other side of the trail.
Here is the same tree now standing in the middle of the path. Have to watch the tops of the other trees. Some dead ones around. They will learn you a lesson quick if your not careful. Time to finish this up, load it up, grab a can of sugar and caffeine and unload it and get back at it.
This is a nice load of what I think was Birch, and Ash that I "walked" down amongst those other trees. I was hoping to get this unloaded and go back for another. But I'm getting tired. And that means it's time quit using the saw. So I unloaded this load and called a day. Time for a hot shower and relaxing. I'm now in charge two youngins. Wife took the other grocery shopping.
Thanks woodlands. I'm hoping to get another full day of cutting in tomorrow before it gets here. I plan on using the machine tomorrow, put the forks on it and cut the wood into about 7' lengths. Then pick them up with the machine and haul them out up to the processing area. Hope to be able to get even more out tomorrow. Hope.
