It's been a while since I broke out the dehydrator so I got an early start this morning on some venison jerky. Marinated over night it in a sweet chili/soy mix and just set it in the dehydrator for 4.5hrs at 150

Well my excitement was short lived. I walked in the kitchen to find the display on the dehydrator going crazy. I tried to reset it and now the display is blank. I hit the appropriate buttons hoping I have it at the right temp and time. Just gonna keep checking it throughout the morning. Crossing my fingers I don't lose this batch :tears:

Put it in the oven on 150 with the door cracked! You will still have jerky then.....

Yeah, an oven will work well in a pinch. Or you can use a box fan and filters. I use my charcoal smoker to get the jerky smokey and some moisture out, then put it in my nesco dehydrator to finish off the dehydration without burning the meat. That nesco is just basically a fan with little heater.

Sorry for keepin you waiting. I was helping dad get his skid steer ready and loaded up for tomorrow. The jerky turned out great! I checked it after 4hrs (hoping it was on the right temp setting) and pulled while it was a bit chewy. Got about 1.5lbs
