Blew some soot around the neighborhood today...

    OK… I'll confess that I've probably run three tons of pellets thru the Englander in my shop during the past three years. I never did the LBT until today… I hadn't intended on having this stove this year (it's my friends and he was going to pick it up but didn't).

    Sooooo… I ran my 100' extension cord out the side service door, plugged in the leaf blower then ran the cord to the outside 110V outlet in the front of my shop… the pellet vent is on the back wall. Got a surprise when the leaf blower fired up when I plugged it in. Limping from the front of the shop to the back, about 80', I see this plume of soot heading towards the beauty saloon parking lot across the street… oops.

    Anyway the stove is much happier now… not much soot on the glass and it's nice and warm in the shop now (although the outside temps are around 35F today).

    Mission accomplished.

    These stoves will never build enough vacuum when using the leaf blower to damage anything. None are air tight. They all draw some room air thru various areas. Hook a vacuum gauge to your stove… the St. Croix won't even move the gauge.

    Worse… it's my no-sister-good-in-laws beauty saloon. If she complains I'll show her my black snow and tell her the choke must be stuck on her Cadillac and I don't appreciate all the mess...

    We did two today for a customer that hadn't had her stoves cleaned in over two years, both with very questionable (well, incorrect rather) venting systems. We brushed them first as they actually had some creosote deposits in the venting and then we let the leaf blower rip. I DARE you to find snow within a mile of her home that isn't covered in ash, DARE you lol. I wish I got it on video, they were the best ones to date.
