Well maybe u give a few pointers I can tig with this setup but not to good at it . I to can mig and stick very well I've been doin it for 20yrs.
I missed this post earlier. When I worked for a welder all the in house fabrication for the most part was done with a high powered Mig and that was my job. Most of the stick welding was done in the field where we did above ground fuel systems etc. and on those jobs I was mainly there to tighten down bolts and lift heavy stuff. I did love the oxy/ace torch that we strapped to the pipe though, so pretty as it ran around and cut it. Then I had to grind all the slag off lol. Yeah, I was his slave but I learned a lot and loved that job, it just didn't give enough hours.
Whats an easy way for a guy to learn to tig weld? I can mig and stick but never have tig. I want to weld some alum.
WeldrDave is just one of the experienced welders here HF. There are others as well. Bet they'll be along.
like anything else practice, practice, practice. Do you have a tig machine or access to one? or know someone who can teach you? Aluminum tig is not that difficult once you get the hang of it Watch some of the videos on this site they are very informative http://www.weldingtipsandtricks.com/index.html
Like elderthewelder said, practice!!!!!!!!!! When you TIG weld, things change on every different thing/material you weld. Such as this; ... When you weld aluminum you need a machine that has the capability of high frequency "continuious" and when your welding Stainless or mild steels, you "don't nesseserally" need HF but it's nice to have for a "start" arc. Next is changing your polarities.... AC to DC- etc... cleaning.... Tungsten.... ball or point.... Gas mix, Argon, CO2, mixed gases, so there is a lot to consider here and how much do you want to spend on a machine, regulators, gases etc... For the first line in your question I suggest this.... Go to a vocational school or a night class, that will get you started.
