Went home for lunch yesterday...and thought it was a tad cool. I raked the coals and loaded the stove with ash and elm. Half hour later I went back to work.

An hour later my bride sends the text mesage below.

I had forget to turn the damper and air controls down.

    Double doh!!

No doubting that the stove works!

    PS My clock needs resetting

Have you been using a fan to move cold air into the room with the insert?

No, the insert has a blower and that room also has a ceiling fan that we keep on low to keep the air moving.

You may find putting a fan on the floor blowing from cold air rooms into the warm room a big benefit.

We have a nice looking fan we sit near a doorway of the kitchen that we use. Makes a BIG diffference in heating the kitchen.

I think I will try a fan upstairs in the coldest room of the house ( my bed room) and blow cold air into the hall that is warm to see if it helps. Thanks for your input.

I've done the same exact thing with the WS IS. Mentally I knew I had to come back to the stove in 10 mins to engage the cat and lower the air damper and voila, stupido me forgot and my wife calls to let me know the stove room is 90 deg. I felt like such an idiot because I'm always careful

I hope you always remember this lesson and let it be a reminder that just like when sawing a board, measure twice, saw once. With the stove, it is check twice, relax.

Lol. Just not a box fan or one they use at football stadiums to cool off the players. :)
