I don't ever go Black Friday shopping! Around here its people beating each other up and having cart bashing fests. The problem is if I wasn't looking to buy it before then I don't need it now.
Black Friday: Because only in America, people trample others for sales exactly one day after being thankful for what they already have. I don't do much in store shopping. Occasionally I'll go to duck's for their buy one get one 1/2 off ammo sale. But I haven't been in a few years... I look for online deals -- we've been waiting for black friday/cyber monday to order a 2nd tv. Which took on some urgency since our only tv stopped working.
I have noticed the Black Friday deals aren't deals at all. There are a couple items marked down drastically - to meet their competitors' prices. I got a huge deal on a lap top this summer. The lap tops now are the same price - with the Black Friday tag. As a side note, I used to work part time in retail. I refuse to go to a store on Thanksgiving or Black Friday. It is criminal what the retail chains do to their workers.
I wish that was funny but it's so true. The last time I went out on Black Friday ( 4 years ago I think ) I had forgot it was Black Friday. While I'm going through Walmart food section a lady with a baby in her cart plowed over my leg and said " get the bleep outa my way! " It still hadn't dawned on me yet what day it was and I let it go trying to mind my business. That happened a bunch more times too. At the checkout people where yelling at each other and fighting over stupid things like dish sets on clearance and blocking the isles. Seriously cheap azz Walmart junk dish sets! I found my way into a checkout and was told I couldn't check out because there where to many people and I had to many items. ( MY GROCERIES not a single Black Friday item ) ANNND.... I blew my lid at the poor cashier my words where " I came to get my f765 groceries and I am tired of all the jerks running around trampling each other ! It doesn't matter one bit to me if that jack125 behind me has to wait I am checking out or leaving this cart right here for you to deal with dam74!" The poor lady started crying and I felt terrible so I bought her lunch and movie tickets. She had to deal with being treated like crap all day. It just brings the worst out in people around here. Ok enough winning I'll go away and not ruin this thread
Im not a black Friday expert by any means, because if I remember correctly, black Friday of last year I had a score of red oak, and I remember posting something about it, however, I did see at Walmart, they advertised a 32" television for $ 98 bucks.
Amazon has a Seiki 50" LED TV for $229 on Black Friday. I bought one for my basement remodel, but did it at my local Walmart, it was $339 regular price. Pretty good deal for an LED? Last Christmas I bought a 65" Sharp Aqous Quattron LED 3 Smart TV for the living room and could have bought 8 or 9 of these Seiki's. It's a nice TV, but our Vizio 50" LCD in the Family room looks just as good. If your looking stay inside? Look at Amazon and Seiki TVs.

I think the last time I went out on BF was maybe 10-12 years ago. Wife and I met her older Sis and her BIL in Saginaw for lunch and shopping. Got to Best B.., did a bit of shopping and found exactly one thing that I didn't really need. Went to the front and saw the checkout line was winding back and forth behind the registers and almost all the way through the whole store. Brother-in-law and I both put down our stuff and left. I have better things to do, and my time is worth more than waiting in line for who knows how long for something I didn't need. The longer I live away from the big city, the more I realize how much stuff I don't need. Someone constantly harping about something they need to sell. Going out of business sales every Friday from the same stores. What a bunch of crap. Ok, I should stop now.
I worked retail while in college. I watched two people duking it out over the last video game system that was hot that year. Threw them both out of the store. My last season working there was in 1998. I won't go near any big box store on 'Black Friday' ever again.
First let me say that I don't condone this behavior. But, whose fault is it really? Let's say there is a place that has 200 game sets to blow out in a door buster sale. They advertise that the first 200 people get them. But when 400 show up, what do they do? Do they give a voucher to the first 200? No. They open the doors and let 400 people in to fight it out. The store knows what's going to happen. I would like to think that fellow human beings would not fall for this, but they get baited in and whipped up into a frenzy!
That's what happens when people decide that little Johnny needs to have the latest, greatest or will forever be branded a 'double weenie' by all his friends. Unfortunately a good chunk of society suffers from 'microwave syndrome' - if I can't have it now, I want it 30 seconds from now. That whole retail experience was both funny and sad, especially when we knew we'd be getting more in later that weekend, but the price would be $20 more. It's too bad that it seems many have forgotten what the Christmas season is really supposed to be about. I'm as guilty as anyone else, but I'm trying to get better.
Yep. Those are the ones I hit. A 5 piece Dewalt kit w/ batteries and charger($450 normal?) Got for $199. Then, they had an open box XRP drill (missing 1 battery, but still had 1 battery charger) bought it for $50. So for $250, I got 2 XRP drills, circ saw, recip saw, grinder, a light, 3 batteries and 2 chargers or about $900 worth of stuff If bought regular price. The drills are $299 a piece new. So well worth it. Even if you go late, they still have decent deals. And the loonies are gone!!
Not a fan of crowds anyway (State Fair is enough for me) so I stay away from those lunatics.Someone starts shoving me or steps on my feet is likely to get a knuckle sandwich to go with their turkey.I have a short fuse when someone tries to intimidate me.
