Talked to good friend about a week ago told him I was running low on wood. Said he had some cherry I could have. Went tonight and got it. 12 o 16 inch rounds. Heaped 8 foot pickup bed had my dually squatting. After loading got to talking saws and he went in his barn and gave me a poulan 2300 cva. He is a picker and scrapper. Found it in the trash. Said he thinks it needs a fuel line. Free wood and free saw. Known him since junior high about 40 yrs ago. Good friends are hard to find.
Great little story. You caught my attention with the 'free saw' part. All in all, a great score for you. Are you into saws enough to want to fix that poulan up?
Will get some pictures soon. Unloaded about half today left half on the truck for some weight ( MIGHT SNOW ) started splitting with my maul. Splits real nice. Sun was out and it was above freezing so I got carried away and forgot fully loaded picks. Had my dually down on the helpers. Dont know about saw he didnt either. Gonna run comp test and check cylinder and decide from there. I could use a lighter trim saw. Working a lot of ot ( NOT COMPLAINING). Just not a lot of time to "play".
Here is pics of whats left on the truck, the saw and my splitting pile. Split a bunch more tonight. When all split prob 3/4 of a cord. Hope i uploaded the pics correctly
Yes, what a great score - cherry AND a saw! I hope the Poulan works out for you without much issue. Either way, a bunch of good-smelling BTU's...
