It's too hard to ignore you..... And the little man is intentionally SCREWED. Now let me eat my dinner....
WOW talk about missing the point, the idiots (and I should not have to point this out) are the ones burning wet wood and smoldering their fires. Not stirring up sheet just pointing out what they are doing and many dont want to accept the facts. I have burnt more wood then probably most of you guys ever will so I guess I am the biggest idiot of all.
He's talking in the third person because HE burns wood too!! Unless he's calling himself an idiot too!...lol Lighten up and for just once let's enjoy a convo about this subject without turning it into a cow pattie contest.......
OK let me set this straight, if you are burning wet wood and smoldering your fires then you are an idiot, now can I make it any plainer. I am all for clean burning, not sure how you could think I was calling wood burners idiots.
Just about there Scotty, trying to make it easier for some to understand why they are targeting wood stoves due to the particulates but some dont want to hear it. We have to know what they are up to before we can defend ourselves.
No you're no idiot.....but you DO like to kick the bees nest from time to time. We all see things more-or-less the same, only different...... I love ya buddy.....hahaha....
I for one always love when oldspark weighs in. Every place needs a loveable curmudgeon. If Oldspark insults me over this post, that will make it perfect.
I hear ya, I think we see things exactly the same at the end of the day, I try and see things from all angles, here is an interesting link from a site that likes wood stoves, might have been posted before but worth posting again. I really like what you have done here with your site by the way. http://www.treehugger.com/renewable-energy/is-burning-wood-for-heat-really-green.html
I'm 26, but I'm fairly certain that this country can use all the "old school" we can get and then some.
Spark puts a spin on this that is healthy for us to consider. We on this site probably agree on a huge amount of things and disagree on much much less. But we can not afford to ignore what the people who oppose wood burning are saying. We can not just say f/#@ you or play the victim to the bad buys, because the bad guys are real and we are not a group that have deep pockets (like big oil) to fight them. We have an uphill battle because of public perception that we cut down ttees that shouldnt be cut down and have black smoke rolling out of our chimneys. We need examine what we say or we may become a group that starts yelling "mom they're picking on us". Now if you will excuse me Im off to bed. Later guys.
I don't completely agree with that article, and that site is geared more at "saving the trees" and not "saving the honest and responsible woodburner". But the author does have some good points. And some not-so-good..... Thanks for the compliments, Sparky. We're glad to have ya.
I think it's safe to say all of us here "know" both sides of the spectrum whether good or bad. Everything we do in the world has consequence to Mother nature, but remember one thing, wood burning "is" the only natural, renewable source of heat with minimal impact on the environment. A thougt here… Where did all the smoke go from the 4.7 million acres that just recently burned in California and a few of the western states? Did anyone sue the fire service for not putting it out in time?
I wonder if there is any official tally of how much material is launched into the air during those types of fires. Must be staggering. One of those huge fires would prolly be more than all woodburners together produce in 50 years.
