The transmission went out on the old girl and because I love that old truck I figured it was worth a new transmission. I got a 700R4 550HP completely updated rebuild with 3 year unlimited Mileage warranty for $795 after tax from a place about an hour away.

While I was there I saw a Scottsdale parts truck with a cap on the back.... While I am a sucker for a good haggle deal and this thing was in great shape and even had the door! They offered $150 and I got it to $100 even. Now the wife wants to use the wood hauler for groceries! :hair: What have I done! :zip:

The grand total CAP & TRANS $895 and she looks great!

Caps sure are useful. I'd love a freebie to mount on a beater trailer and call it the mobile woodshed.

Caps are great. We hauled a lot of loads (15) of tools and camping supplies to our cabin in 2011 under a cap.

I wish I had a pic of an ole buddy's cargo "drawer" he made in the back of his truck. I remember it was the width and length of the entire bed and used 2x6s as slide rails with solid casters. He rigged it somehow so it could handle prolly 500 lbs of stuff with the drawer all the way out and beyond the end of the tailgate. He never had to go digging for stuff... could reach everything.

I just am happy it has a door and the windows work well! Around here busted leaky caps go for $200 plus...... My old aluminum caps cost around $800 new and sold years later for $500 easy. This one was a steal.

I am pretty sure I'll pull it and paint it with Rustoleum professional enamel I love that stuff it's tuff as nails... I'm gonna do some body work to the cab this summer and keep my eyes peeled for a truck bed in good shape.

Pfft groceries the wife says! :hair: I've been giving here a hard time about that   I'm loosing the battle...

Like that? Its pretty cool but I need the bed space. You could use one as a camper bed though! lay a mattress and go camping.

Are those slider windows? If you are interested, we used spray on bedliner on the blazer topper and it turned out great! Though the grey might stay cooler in the sun?

The grocery net ONTOP of the cargo carrier would be awesome for groceries, she wouldnt have to open the tailgate to load/unload the bags   Unless she's vertically challenged like some of us......

That's cool too. Can use the top for full loads. I like that better. The guy I was yappin' about had the whole middle of the bed slide out. He was a contractor and had it full of saws, stands, cables n stuff.

Looks good Pete, You are correct about fiberglass vs aluminum way nicer, thats a deal too.
I agree, groceries don't make a wood truck look very manly. :Dlol
